iM: Gixxer and Subie

So my buddy Saleem just got his hood sharpied by Rhys from Revwerks and seeing as the weather was pretty good last night we decided to go for a shoot. Travis joined us with his GSX-R-750 and we ripped up to a warehouse for these pictures.

Enjoy!

Such a sick hood! Amazing detail.

DETO International

DETO International: B Series Shirt Review

Ever since I started up my personal blog last year, I’ve been in touch with James Cale from DETO International. Now that I’ve moved onto illmotion, James was happy to cooperate with us on our site and feature what he can. In turn, we do our best to help him promote him and his brand. Some of you might have seen his brand on hypebeast and DSPORT magazine.

Recently, James sent me one of the newest shirts that he has ready – the B-series shirt. This shirt has lots of attention to detail compared to most shirts – there are 4 screens in total. The first one being on the front, with Honda’s Civic EK being one of the flagship cars. The second on the back, being the brand – DETO. The third, on the inside of the right sleeve if you flip it up saying ‘naturally aspirated class only”. This third detail may refer to the B18C5 in the Integra Type R pushing out 195hp without the use of any help from superchargers or turbos. The last detail is on the inside of the shirt quickly explaining the reason for the birth of Honda tuning starting with the B-series.

Remember to hit up James at DETO International to grab your shirt and celebrate the passion of tuning.

Driven 2010

iM: illmotion @ Driven 2010

With only 10 days left until the annual Driven show, the team here at illmotion is counting down the days until we get to show Calgary some of the best tuner vehicles this city has to offer. We are excited to be showcasing a variety of vehicle’s along with some beautiful models so be sure to check us out at the Olympic Oval on Saturday June 12th!

Due to the great fan support from all over the world we have some great things lined up for the Driven show.

First off there will be 2 new sets of decals available for purchase at the show. We will have a Speedtech Racing Development Edition(Yellow) and by popular vote via our website poll, an all White decal.
Also the original TEAL decals that sold out within an hour will be available in a limited quantity of 20, so be sure to arrive early and get these as they will never be available again!
All decals will be available as cash only purchases at a price of 1 for $10, 2 for $15, with all proceeds going towards a great cause, the Alberta Children’s Hospital Foundation. Remember to bring extra cash to help us help kids!

Second we will be having a draw for some limited edition goods! We will be giving away an illmotion t-shirt along with some decals. You must come to the show to enter your name for a chance to win. More details will be available at our booth.

Third and last as mentioned above there will be some fresh new rides along with a couple of gorgeous models, and a whole lot of other stuff going on at this years Driven show. So make sure you keep Saturday June 12th free and we hope to see you all at the Oval!

iM: When Dreams Become Nightmares…

So, maybe I made the title slightly over dramatic. But allow me to explain. I remember reading some Japanese Tuner Magazine when I was just getting into wanting to mod cars. And I saw this wheel. I had NO idea what it was but i knew that one day I would have to have it.

The wheel…The Volk TE37. I mean what a classic wheel…six spoke design, great for brake cooling, looks amazing on any car, super light, forged, and baller…haha…That, my friends was the dream. Now comes the nightmare. No, I haven’t curbed them, or damaged them…But, I will let the pictures do the talking….

With Driven 2010 fast approaching the ill.motion crew are busy and hard at work to make sure our cars are ready for the show. Now Jason being the hater that he is, shot my car earlier today and well commented on the lack of my wiping down and cleaning my wheels before the shoot. Anyhow, that is what I decided to do this evening and folks…if you have just eaten come back and look at this post later…haha…

Only because my words do not even begin to express the nastiness that has built up on my wheels, from both regular driving, track days, my general laziness AND a broken axle boot that I discovered today…FML…haha…onto the pictures…

After!

Introduction

Introduction: Another One? Jeez.

Greetings lads and gals!

I am just posting to inform you that i.M just got a lot bigger; as of today, I am now a new member of the ill.motion family!

I am Don James (but you can call me DJ for short) and I am currently entering my final(!) year of post-secondary studies at the University of Calgary. I do photography as a hobby but when it comes to car photography, I am a complete novice.

As you can see from my previews:

I am also (probably) the only man still using a film SLR here at ill.motion but I do have a G10 for the digital shots. Regardless, I’m here to learn, here to improve, and here to impress.

If for some reason you liked what you saw, check out my Flickr for more!

Nonetheless, I’ve been following ill.motion since its inception and as i.M’s new author/photographer, I will scour the ground for sick rides, roam the land for eccentric articles, and keep the ill.motion family hooked and interested!

I will not disappoint and of course, I am always open for criticism, potential article ideas, and the like.

Cheers and ride on!

Europe

iM: Updates from overseas

Howdy,

I have been reading illmotion for a while and spotted the quest for new people.
Emailed Jason right away and after a small talk, I was part of the family.

Since I live in a small country in Europe, it’s quite difficult to post pictures of meetings in Canada.
But we also have our own community, events and meetings in the Netherlands + the famous Nurburgring is only 3,5 hour driving for me.

After owning a 95 Honda EG hatchback for 3 year, this was the year to step-up to the game of faster cars and bought a imported Integra Type-R

What can you expect from me ? Well i have this awesome Nikon D90 camera and take it with me almost all the time. If it is for a local drive, chillin’ with friends, big meetings, road trips to the Nurburgring or even international events. I’ll try to give you an impression of what we got in Europe.

But first some more pictures…

For those who want to see more of my previous work, please have a look at my Flickr stream.
And for more information about myself, you can check out my own small blog about the Integra and of course my Twitter ( @L4urenZ )

Cheers,

Laurens

iM: EK x FG Photoshoot

After months and months of waiting, I finally get my hands on the Canon 135L f2.0 – one of my most sought after lenses and I was itching to go for a shoot. Call up Arif and out we go to one of the sickest locations ever – no cars, no traffic, no people… just straight new road all around.
Well enough of the chatter, here are the first pics to come from my baby 😀

Check that bokeh – for you photography nerds 😛 haha

Had to get some ass shots.. sorry for the dirty car.

As always, you can visit my photostream for the high res photos

Headlight Clearing and Blacking out

A few of us Subaru guys decided to do a quick headlight clearing and blacking out meet. By quick, I mean some of the WRX’s and STI’s were done in 2-3 hours whereas my Legacy and I were stuck there for a full 8 hours. After having to rip off the front bumper to get to headlights and wrestling with the headlight assembly because one of the o-rings decided it didn’t want to fit in its hole when we put the car back together, we finally got the car done. 1 of the STI guys had blown headlight bulb and the other blew a HID ballast so it was a relief to see that everything was working. Oh and Julian, who decided to be a perfectionist when he was painting, actually ended up being there for about 12 hours. Price for perfection I guess.

Enjoy!

Bumper finally off

And out goes the headlights
One blind Subaru…
2 blind Subaru’s!

Waiting for headlight and grill “wings” to dry
All done!

Put back together!

Nice and clean.

New Photographer: Matthew To

So this is my first post for the ill.motion family. My name is Matt and I have a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT. The car has some work done, but is mainly a work in progress still. Cars have always been a huge passion of mine and have been getting more and more into the Calgary tuner scene. I look forward to providing all the readers with more of the sickest cars in Southern Alberta that ill.motion is known for!
