illmotion @ Quarry Park & Polish Part 2

As you can tell by the title, this is part 2 of the Quarry Park & Polish that happened in Quarry Park on Sept. 12, 2010. This was the 2nd annual event and it was in support of MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). The event had a great turn out as I’m sure you could tell from PART 1.

Jason did a great job in covering the illmotion area, and I had the pleasure of taking a stroll around and getting some snaps of things you don’t get to see too often on illmotion, or on the streets for that matter.

Below are the pics of the treats we got to see, and hopefully next year we can double this show in size and have a great show as well and support a great cause.

Here’s a little excerpt from an email we received from MADD Canada:
“With your generous donation of the battery charger and jumper cables draw prize, the advertising and providing many exciting cars for the show we successfully finished our 2nd annual Quarry Park and Polish fundraiser. There were some fantastic vehicles there; we exceeded the amount of cars from last year.

We always feel so blessed by the participation, partnership and generosity we get from the communities. Your generosity made a big difference to ensure the success of this event. In total we raised just over $3300.00 dollars that will go directly to our programs to provide support for victims of impaired driving and help us to raise public awareness of the dangers and consequences of this very preventable act. MADD needs caring and dedicated individuals such as you to help in our fight to provide safe roads for all.”

illmotion would just like to extend it’s appreciation to everyone who came out that day or purchased our special MADD Edition decals from the store. Thank-you for showing support for us and more importantly MADD Canada.

iM Feature: Darren’s Mugen DC5 – Extra Snaps

Tagged along last night on the shoot, and took a few pics. Still learning how to work with different types of light, and lack there of. The light disappeared pretty quickly, so my pics aren’t as good as Jason, but I figured I’d put a few up anyways.

More after the jump…

And a final shot of Jason gettin the goods, even though it was dark and wet out.

iM Feature: Darren’s Mugen DC5

Ever since last year I’ve spotted this RSX/Integra rolling around here and there and I’ve always drooled over how nicely put together it is and how clean it looked. The thing I loved most was the wing. At one point, I wanted an RSX to create this exact look.

Fast forward to a year later and I get the opportunity to shoot this clean queen. Since last year, it’s been equipped with Rota Grids in 17×9.5 +30 wrapped with 235/40/17 yokohama s-drives. with that concave face making the stance of the car super mean. The all around mugen look including the aggressive wing makes it hard not to stare at.

With most shoots, comes some big risks. Several times during this shoot, we encountered some sick locations but in order to get to them required swerving, maneuvering, and crawling over huge potholes and mud terrain. And several of those times, Darren’s whip ended up taking some hits but not without some good pictures – so kudos to Darren for taking it where we needed it to get the shots you see.

Darren also added to the detail by having Mugen pedals, Mugen lugnuts, Mugen shiftknob and a Mugen tower bar. To help with the go parts, a Hondata reflash and an Injen CAI tops it off.

iM Likes This: Ken Block – Gymkhana 3.2

You’ve all seen Gymkhana 1 and 2, I know you have.  And being a Subaru guy, I was a little choked when Ken Block moved to Ford.  But these vids are still insane.  Here is the next in the series that will continue to grow.

illmotion x MADD @ Quarry Park

Yesterday afternoon we had the pleasure of attending the 2nd annual park & polish that was backed up by MADD Canada (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). This would have really been our first official unofficial meet with whoever wanted to come and participate with us.

These kinds of events are important to us simply because we are able to participate in events for a good cause. We want to be able to showcase our efforts and have it pay off in the end as well.

The morning started with meeting anybody that wanted to participate at Ikea half an hour before registration began. At first, there was 6 of us then 7 then 10 and by that time it looked like that was it. So we made our way down.. As the day went on, familiar faces as well as newcomers came by and parked with us. By the end of the day, we had taken up close to half of one side of the lot which was awesome because it was such a nice day to be out.

Thanks in advance to everyone that came and showed with us as well as anybody that might have stopped by to take a look at what was going on! See you guys next year. I’ll let the pictures do the talking..

The rest is gonna be really picture heavy…

You guys might have remembered this GTI I posted not too long ago that was getting bags installed. Here it is.

iM Feature: Function vs Form – Part 1

Being slammed is the latest trend in the import tuner world, however, cars with a slammed stance tend to be impractical, especially on the roads we have in Calgary. Tuners have to choose between the sick look of a slammed ride and have trouble with their car scraping everywhere or settle for a less aggressive stance but be more practical.
We have here 2 cars in which their owners chose either function or form. On one side, we have Josh Sivadas’s lowered white Integra Type-R with Volk CE28n’s and on the other side we have Reggie Mah’s slammed Phoenix Yellow with Sportmax rims and tons of negative camber. One has no problem making it up the tiny ramp to get into this parking lot where we shot, the other had considerable trouble. However, both of these cars have some of the best parts available, ranging from Mugen to ARC. In parts two and three, we will take a more indepth look at each car, so stay tuned!
ASM

iM Feature: JKL’s Internet Sensation S2K

Winter is coming up and the weather is starting to suck so much that you can see your breath during the mornings and evenings. Next thing you know, there’s a foot of snow outside your driveway and there’s no such thing as tucking tire anymore.

Jackie shows everyone that there is no such thing as being too low. Some are confused as to how he does it, but he does and he does it well. Every piece of the car is put together with attention to detail – something that seems common among the other S2000 owners like Nick and Jackson.

Custom candy blue TE37’s in 18×9.5 +22 all around, ASM bumper, Spoon buckets and diffuser, J’s carbon GT wing and titanium exhaust and a whole bunch of other goodies that make this car just as good as it looks.

This will probably be the last and potentially the only shoot that we get of his car before he heads back home to Victoria, B.C. Perhaps next year he’ll have something different in store and we can get that up on illmotion for you guys as well. Enjoy.

Dutch Japfest Coverage

Last weekend was the biggest dutch car event regarding japanese cars.
Japfest or JAF for short.

It was a long day but my crew had a cool place and just enough space to park all the cars. The event is a mixture of 3 things. At first you have all the dutch japanese car club standing at the paddock area. Second best we have the “Toyo Tyres Shootout” which is basicly the 1/4 mile sprint and as best we our own dutch Time Attack series.

Since they first started in 2007, the line-up just got better and better and more people are into the whole tracktime thing.

Just to give you a small example of the day. Have a look at the following video by RPMonline.

Further more i would like to show you my on board video i shot with a ContourHD cam.
Its 17 minutes of track with my DC2. Since it was my first time on this track, i really took it slow and just had fun.

I’ll post the full video from RPMonline when it is ready, so that you guys have a complete impression of the day.
