iM: Lazy Sunday – May 29, 2011

What do you do when its gorgeous out, all the whips are clean, and everyone has their wheels/new parts on the car? If if you’re like us, there is only one answer: you cruise. And cruise is exactly what we did. You know how it goes… get something to eat, hang out for a bit, roll to another spot to hang out, decide to shoot the whips, then cruise some more. F the crazy gas prices…

Civic

iM Feature: Brad Atkins 2000 Civic SiR

Some of y’all may remember Brad’s EM1 that we took random snaps of last year. This year he’s got a few new modifications with boost and his Type-R 5 lug conversion being the most notable.

With the summer quickly on the come up it’s not long til we see Brad rip his SiR around the track. Ideally built with function in mind and JDM goodness to boot don’t be surprised if you see this EM1 lappin’ on everybody at Race City this year, and snappin’ necks when spotted on Calgary’s streets.

Brad perfectly describes his SiR when he says ‘This car is used and abused. If you can’t beat the shit out of it then what’s the point? You won’t find none of that p*ssy show car BS here’.

Haters take note.

Garage Box

iM Event Coverage: Garage Box Track Day

With some what of a summer finally upon us the track at Race City is starting to see some action. There have already been a few track days this year, but this marks the first track day held by GarageBox

The day, Monday May 23rd, started out with a lot of rain but that didn’t stop all the people from coming out and ripping it around. There was a great turn-out with some cars freshly out of their hiding spots from the winter. It was definitely great to see everyone enjoying themselves regardless of the cold and wet conditions and we look forward to seeing everyone at the next one!

Now onto the good stuff, the pics!

As usual the parking lot is full of sick rides as well.

For the rest of the pics be sure to check them out HERE

iM: Eibach Meet 2011

In the process of planning a Vegas trip with some buddies I realized we were going to be in Vegas only a couple days away from when the annual epic Honda meet know as ‘Eibach’ was going to be taking place. After checking some flight prices it was a done deal. Eibach + Vegas trip, yup!

As for the event let me start off by saying that I have never seem anything like this. Being from Canada our scene or whatever you want to call it isn’t even close to being on the level of Cali (although we still try). Shit was packed full of cars, and even more packed full of people. Pure and utter chaos of people and magazine cover cars haha.

The pics speak for themselves…. the quality of Cali’s Hondas is unmatched. I highly recomend everyone start planning their Eibach 2012 flights or road trip. What a blast!

Keeping with the VW flow, we went to our FlickR pool and this beauty caught my eye. From photographer Jeroen Buitenhuis in the Netherlands, who’s teal civic was previously featured on here.

DudeBlvd

iM: Dude Blvd Crew Shout Out

Went to check out one of my favorite blogs this afternoon and noticed Nit’s awesome post regarding illmotion’s interest in repping for Dude Blvd here in Canada. I had the opportunity to chat it up with him the other night and it reminded me why we do what we do here on illmotion.

If you can remember way back when we posted DudeBlvd’s “Devil In A New Dress” video featuring a VIP GS430 & the lovely Julie Mai. That was the first time I heard of DudeBlvd and their blog. When I first stumbled upon DudeBlvd, I thought it was just “another one of those car blogs”. 3 hours later, my thoughts on the blog entirely changed as I was glued to their site.

There’s something about DudeBlvd.com that always has me checking back on their site and paying attention to what they do. It’s more than just the cars and parts list, it’s the people behind the wheel/scenes that get together to make this scene so special; the entire culture/scene as a whole is represented on Dudeblvd.

Behind all the form, function, speed, stance, etc. is a community. When I check up on DudeBlvd on the daily, I see more than just the cars, I get to see the people behind their builds which gives it that raw feeling like you were actually there.

It’s that “Down To Earth” vibe of DudeBlvd.com that reminds the illmotion crew to always stay humble and be respectful to all the car enthusiasts out there. Thanks Nit & The Dude Blvd Crew! We’re looking forward to reppin’ you guys hard out here in Canada.

The car scene is always evolving, but one thing will always remain the same: the passion that we all share as a community is what keeps us going.

CCW

iM Feature: Ricky’s CCW’d GTI MKV

Ricky’s Volkswagen has really been a long time coming for those who knew when he got the car. The day he picked it up, he had an idea and that idea became another idea and eventually became a plan. Once that had all started, it all started coming together.

Volkswagen’s are known to be dumped, fitted and look damn good doing it. Ricky’s GTI is no different. There are usually two routes that VW owners go – static drop on coils or dropped on bags. Ricky took the static route and went on doing his research. What coils to get, what size wheels and tires… and while it all seems overly simple, when you get down to the nitty gritty, if you get it wrong, you got a pretty shitty outcome. Offset is off by 5mm making it either hard to fit or not satisfying. Coilovers don’t go low enough, so now what? The difference here is that Ricky paid attention to all the little details that (when you think about it) paint a really big picture.

Since mid summer of 2010, he has been gathering parts here and there and over the winter, they’ve been sitting in a corner gathering dust, begging to be put on. The amount of patience it takes to say “no” and having to look at them everyday is mind boggling. Most of us know this.

It started off going from little things like LED’s and maybe an air freshener here and some nice floor mats there. Eventually you get bored of wasting your money on the little things and you need to find some way to get your car noticed. This is the result of that.

215/40/18 Falken FK 912’s

iM: Vancouver DTP Roll Call!

Driven 2010

It’s that time again! Summer and nice weather is upon us and we are getting ready to see some sick rides come out again.

Unfortunately for the local 403 peeps, there won’t be a show in Calgary this year. While this is a big disappointment for us especially after our surprising turnout last year of both quantity and quality, we’d still love to have some kind of representation somewhere.

Luckily, we have our neighbors over in Vancouver holding DTP 2011 and we are going to make every effort we can to bring our show over there. With that said, we are holding a roll call for anybody who is willing to join us. We ask that anybody who has a car that they’ve put their blood, sweat and tears into to join us in making the cruise up and represent illmotion and surrounding areas.

Details are as follows…
All submissions please send to group7@illmotion.com
Include pictures, specs, and parts – something that will help you stand out from the rest.

The show will be taking place at
the Rocky Moutaineer Terminal
1755 Cottrell St
Vancouver, British Columbia V6A 2L8 (Rocky Mountaineer)

The show is on July 16th. Full details will be sent out to those who are attending with us.

The plan is to drive down on Friday the 15th and return on Monday the 18th.

You do not need to head up with the group, but remember that roll-in is on the day of the show, not the night before. Just be there for the morning of roll-in and we will set up then. Everybody will be responsible for their own accommodation – where you stay is up to you, however we can provide some recommendations.

SO, with that all said, if you are interested email us as group7@illmotion.com and we will review every submission onward. We will contact those that we’d like to have join us and provide you with more details as well. We want to thank everyone in advance that submits!

Hope to see everybody out there whether it is repping or supporting!
