iM Event Coverage: Driftwest 4.5 – Drift For The…

On Monday, September 2nd 2013, Driftwest and the Everlasting Drift Authority hosted Round 4.5 of their Drifting event at Stratotech Park in Edmonton, Alberta. What made this drift event so special was the fact that it was called “Drift For The Kids”, in support of The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation. It was definitely all about the kids on this memorable day as Celebrity Children Judges decided on the winner of the event, as well as judge the winners of the cars who entered the Battle Project “Show N Shine”. There were also other activities for the kids during this event as they were able to paint two drift cars whether it be by signatures, hand prints or foot prints!

At the end of the day, Driftwest and the Everlasting Drift Authority raised $12,762.93, and 100% of the proceeds went to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation! Amazing stuff!!! One of our illmotion Edmonton Photographers, Kevin Tran, was able to check out the festivities that went down on September 2nd so let’s get right to the coverage! Awesome job and congratulations to Driftwest & The Everlasting Drift Authority for hosting such a successful event!

iM Event Coverage: Driftwest Round 3 @ Stratotech Park

Saturday July 20th marked approximately 5 years since my last drift event (seriously; circa 2008, DMCC days).

I can’t really offer a good reason why, other than life happened. I got busy with work and eventually kind of fell out of love with photography for awhile, putting me on a bit of a hiatus over the last couple years as a photographer…but after Saturday’s event, I’m not quite sure how I managed to stay away.

Being out at Stratotech brought a rush of good vibes and great memories. From seeing friends I don’t see nearly enough, to admiring the evolution and fruition of the effort of those that pour their heart and soul into making their cars and the scene better, I can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday.

So if you haven’t been to an event before, hopefully the following photos will convinced you to attend one in the near future( seriously, you should).

iM Event Coverage: Spec-D’s Sunday Funday #3

On Sunday September 25, 2011 a few of us from the crew decided to check out Spec-D’s Sunday Funday at Race City. Spec-D hosted a great season finale with raffles supporting charity, spectators getting ride alongs, and both pro and amateur drivers competing in full out tandem battles.

As Spec-D was wrapping up a great Sunday Funday event to end their season, this was also one of the final drifting events to be held at Race City ever. We gotta give it up to the Spec-D Team for continuously supporting our local drifters and hosting these great events but more importantly, giving these drivers a chance to showcase their art on the track.

Enjoy the photos we captured from Sunday Funday!

We went a little camera crazy so be sure to view the rest of the pics from the event click HERE

iM Event Coverage: StatusOne x DriftSquad Slideways Fridays

Just want to start off by giving a shoutout to both StatusOne Autoworks and Driftsquad for putting on a great event! Even though the weather was windy and rainy at times the guys still went out there and showed off their skills!

This was the first time heading out to one of their events and it was awesome to meet some of the drifters who we don’t regularly meet at other events. It was also great to enjoy some good music while shooting so props to the DJ that came out!

Looking forward to the next one on August 5th(Postponed until further notice. Stay tuned to StatusOne’s Facebook page for details)! Come check it out!

iM Event Coverage: Secret Street & Drift Demo

A few pics from secret street drag racing and drift demo a week ago. The skill of the drifters has grown a lot since the last time I made it out, good show guys!

iM Event Coverage: Spec D’s ‘Sunday Funday’

I got a chance to attend Spec D’s ‘Sunday Funday’ on October 3rd. Although the clouds were covering the sun, it was still fairly warm out, and a great time was had by all. I believe it was Spec D’s last event of the year considering the snow can descend upon us at any time.

Special thanks goes out to Spec D for organizing the event, and letting us in to get coverage on the event. Get out and support these guys next year by attending their events, they do not disappoint.

iM Likes This: Ken Block – Gymkhana 3.2

You’ve all seen Gymkhana 1 and 2, I know you have.  And being a Subaru guy, I was a little choked when Ken Block moved to Ford.  But these vids are still insane.  Here is the next in the series that will continue to grow.

OBAMA CAN’T GYMKHANA!!!
