iM Event Coverage: World of Wheels 2014

This past weekend (February 21-23, 2014) marked the 48th Annual World of Wheels in Calgary, Alberta. The World of Wheels show heralds many vintage classic and domestic vehicles that we all know and love, and also has it’s fair share of imports which we are accustom to seeing at shows such as Driven. One of the main reasons we love attending the World of Wheels however, is the fact that it is one of those shows that you gain more and more of an appreciation for every year that you attend. The reasoning behind this is because you get a real eye-opening sense of the true passion and dedication that fellow car enthusiasts have for their automobiles, and it’s certainly evident by the way that their vehicles are displayed, for the general public to see. Not only that, but the respect that these enthusiasts have for one another when competing at the World of Wheels, is quite amazing and truly inspiring.

For those who may have missed out on the event this past weekend, here’s a closer look at the 48th annual World of Wheels, definitely some new stuff at this years show along with some award winning Euro and VIP cars that you’ll see at some other shows this year!

Let’s move on to pictures from the show:

iM Event Coverage: Quarry Park & Polish 2013 (Part…

Saturday September 14, 2013 marked the 5th Annual Quarry Park & Polish hosted by Cardel Homes in support of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD Canada). In typical Quarry Park & Polish fashion, the 5th Annual event brought out vehicles of all makes and models including some very rare exotics, classics, hot rods, and modified imports and domestics; something for every car enthusiast! This year, the Quarry Park & Polish had something for everybody as prize draws, a 50/50 raffle, Calgary Kart Club Racing (spectating only), RC Car Racing, the “Cardel Kid Zone”, a Lamborghini Aventador Photo-Op Set-up, a “MADD Dog Fighter Jet BBQ”, and car themed movies (such as Senna) at the Cardel Theatre were just some of the activities that the general public could check out and entertain themselves with throughout the day.

For those who follow illmotion regularly we have mentioned before that the Quarry Park and Polish is absolutely one of our favorite car shows to attend and that is because it is a show where we do not have to promote our brand nor enter as “illmotion”. Every year, the Quarry Park & Polish gives us an opportunity to relax and kick it with our friends/fellow car enthusiasts, which is something that we rarely get to do at shows like Driven and our Sunday School Show and Shine. With the Quarry Park and Polish giving us a chance to sit back and and enjoy each other’s company, it is always inspiring to see everybody get together and vibe as a community not only for the love of cars, but for a great cause!

Just like every year it was awesome seeing some familiar faces and meeting some new ones, and we can’t wait to do it all over again next year!

Let’s have a look at what went down at this year’s Quarry Park & Polish, hosted by Cardel homes…starting with Part 1:

Stay tuned for part 2…

iM Event Coverage: Driftwest 4.5 – Drift For The…

On Monday, September 2nd 2013, Driftwest and the Everlasting Drift Authority hosted Round 4.5 of their Drifting event at Stratotech Park in Edmonton, Alberta. What made this drift event so special was the fact that it was called “Drift For The Kids”, in support of The Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation. It was definitely all about the kids on this memorable day as Celebrity Children Judges decided on the winner of the event, as well as judge the winners of the cars who entered the Battle Project “Show N Shine”. There were also other activities for the kids during this event as they were able to paint two drift cars whether it be by signatures, hand prints or foot prints!

At the end of the day, Driftwest and the Everlasting Drift Authority raised $12,762.93, and 100% of the proceeds went to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation! Amazing stuff!!! One of our illmotion Edmonton Photographers, Kevin Tran, was able to check out the festivities that went down on September 2nd so let’s get right to the coverage! Awesome job and congratulations to Driftwest & The Everlasting Drift Authority for hosting such a successful event!

iM Event Coverage: Waterfest 2013

Back on July 20th/21st 2013, Englishtown, New Jersey played host to the 19th Annual Waterfest show. Waterfest, a Motorsport and Car Show which is dubbed as the second largest of it’s kind in the world, caters specifically to the Volkswagen and Audi crowd. With tons of activities available to all Volkswagen/Audi enthusiasts including a Show & Shine, 1/4 Mile Drag Race, Autocrossing, Audio Sound Off, a Burn Out Contest, a Dyno and an Exhibition area from Vendors, the Waterfest Show brings in a total of 21,000 attendees and over 2500 attendants every year!

Our illmotion East photographer, Galen Wan (aka Gawa Photo) had the opportunity to check out Waterfest while he was out on a recent trip to New York. Being that Waterfest is a 2-day event Galen took as much photos as he could during the day that he was out there, and we are more than ecstatic to share these photos with you guys! With a plethora of modified Volkswagens and Audis (and a few other European makes as well) at hand this is definitely a show that every diehard Volkswagen and Audi/Euro car enthusiast cannot miss!

Without further adieu let’s have a look at Waterfest 2013, through the eyes of GAWA:

iM Event Coverage: Sunday School 2013 (Part 1)

And just like that, our third installment of our Sunday School Show & Shine series is over.

But before we begin with coverage from this year’s Sunday School Show & Shine we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our sponsors who made this year so successful. First off we’d like to thank Beyond.Ca, Poorform, Tunerworks, Car2Go, Autotech Performance and Security, Zero Limit Automotive, Autodream, Canada Motorcyle, Calgary Auto Spa, Concept-1, Compact Tuning Lab, Stampede Toyota/Scion, South Point Toyota/Scion, Charlesglen Toyota/Scion, 1st Gear Auto, SpeedOptions, Top Speed Auto, Lithium Autosport, Matrix Motorsports, Country Hills Toyota/Scion, Drive Clean Calgary, Fineline Customworks, Icon Tinting & Graphics and last but not least Vex Performance for sponsoring this year’s Sunday School Show & Shine. With the support of all the local shops in and around Calgary you guys are the reason Sunday School gets better and better every year.

Next, we’d like to thank all those who came out to help during set up and those who were out to assist us during the entire show. A big thank you and shouts out going out to Ryan M., Gopesh, Steve, Justin, Alex and Adrian during set up/roll-in, our friends from Poorform for hooking up the DJ/Audio Equipment, illmotion’s own Aldrich Evangelista & Poorform’s Jimmy Bailey for providing the tunes, and Waffles and Chix for coming out and providing food & drinks. We also gotta give a HUGE thanks and mad love to Carla and Barb for manning the illmotion booth for the entire day alongside Punit and JC. We owe you guys big time for all your help!!!

Finally, we would like to thank all of you. Because without you guys coming out and supporting us whether you registered your car for Sunday School, came out to check out the show, donate to the Lupus Society of Alberta (in loving memory of Lanein Reynoso and those we’ve lost from Lupus), or picked up some illmotion merchandise, without this support from any of you guys, Sunday School would not be as successful as it has been since 2010.

In regards to this year’s Sunday School Show & Shine, the combination of super hot weather (3rd year in a row), good beats, good cars, and amazing people coming together for a good cause definitely made this THE show that everyone will be talking about for a while. This year’s show was without a doubt the busiest one out of the three shows we’ve put on and we can’t help but applaud the Calgary car scene and the caliber of the cars that are coming out to make Sunday School better and better every year. Quality is definitely starting to make more of an impact at these type of events and it was certainly evident at this year’s show and shine. With that said, there’s no denying the stress and difficulty our judges had choosing their Top 15 cars for Sunday School 2013 but we would like to congratulate those who were awarded! The Top 15 “Honour Roll” list is as follows…

illmotion’s Sunday School Show & Shine 2013 “Honour Roll” list (in no particular order):
