iM Feature: Matt’s Honda S2000

This feature of Matt’s S2000 is photographed and written up by Jeff Chin.

Its starting to warm up, nice cars are finally coming out, photographers who have been hiding all winter are dusting off their equipment and here I am writing up my 1st feature on ill motion. I myself am excited whats in store for this season. This past weekend me and my buddy Raymond got the chance to photograph a good friend of ours; Matt’s Honda S2000.

“Honda’s were never really my thing” He replied…

It was back in 08 when Matt first laid eyes on the S2000 he now today calls his own. This 2002 Sebring silver S2000 has come along way since its 08 debut in the Edmonton car scene.

“I’ve owned this car for a little over a year now, it’s the best car I’ve owned” He said.
This is out of the eleven cars he’s owned since he got his license. Nissan, Toyota and Mazda’s just can’t satisfy Matt’s hunger for the corners. Sure you may say there are faster cars … But theres more to it than outright speed.

Matt’s hoping to see more of the track this up and coming race season, it be Stratotech time attack events or the Race city circuit.

But enough with the small talk, Lets get straight to the photos.

iM Feature: Cee’s Honda S2000 Part 2

Well I finally had the chance to go through the awesome photo shoot we had with Cee and pick out my favorites. As mentioned by Jason in the original feature post my pics are hopefully worth looking forward to!

Check them out below…

Keep www.illmotion.com bookmarked and check back often for lots of upcoming shoots!

iM Feature: Cee’s Honda S2000

Well, I’m happy to say that to start off the 2010 season, we were able to shoot a fresh new car that’s never really had a serious shoot. The crew went out and we hit up places and Cee was happy to go wherever we wanted him to – even off-road. It’s nice to have someone who is willing to go above and beyond for the photoshoots because that means we get great pictures.

Here are most of the pics that I went through quickly and processed. Prashant has his to do as well, so look forward to those as well. In the meantime, Cee’s S2000 is worth taking a look at. It’s too clean not to like and the T1r exhaust is super sick.

Wheels/tires – 18×7.5/18×9 Gunmetal TE37’s, Kumho SPT’s, Rays extended lugs
Exterior – OEM Hardtop, AJ-R carbon side diffusers, seibon carbon front lip, ricks smoked signals
and to top it off, a T1R shift knob for the interior.
Simplicity is key!

iM Feature: Ryan Dandurand’s SW20

Ryan’s MR2 is definitely a car you have to see in person to believe. Being on beyond.ca myself I thought “Redlyne_MR2’s” SW20 project was a myth. That was until Spring 2005 when I saw it sitting all pretty at a shop here in Calgary.

Ever since then this car has gone through a lot of modifications and from the looks of it, there’s no signs of it stopping. What seems like an endless list of upgrades on this whip just goes to show you how much of a perfectionist Ryan is.

As for what’s in store for the 2010 season?

New wheels? More CF?

…I guess we’ll have to see this summer.

iM Feature: Davey’s 1987 Porsche 944S

We here at ill.motion are not just about imports, slamming shit, loud exhausts and low offsets. Once in a while something different comes along and it’s one of those things that you can just appreciate because it deserves respect.

One of those things is Davey’s 1987 Porsche 944S. Last summer when we were out shooting a bunch of cars, one of the photographers that tagged along with us was Davey and her (yeah, her) Porsche – mint and just awesomeness. It’s rare to see a car like this around town in this type of condition and with that, I think Davey and her car deserve a nice shout out.

What recession?

iM Feature: Romel’s Hachiroku AE86

I remember the first time I saw Romel’s AE86, I was in awe. It’s one of those cars that can inspire you in that way because of the attention put into it. It’s funny because Romel even replaced the door seals and the sound alone was nicer than my car which is 20 years newer..

One of the best parts of his car are his super rare 15×7 +15 Kei Office Dori-Dori wheels and Recaros from a MK1. To add to that JDM-ness: Zenki front bumper and lip, air intake turbo 4age, SDS engine management system and a Varis carbon fiber hood.

Look back during the summer, I’m sure Romel has more up his sleeve for this season as well.

iM Feature: Law Brothers

Near the end of the season last year we had the opportunity to shoot both Jackie’s S2000 and Dal’s K20 Type R together behind Speedtech. It’s not the ideal location, but the cars themselves make up for the lack of any type of backdrop you probably won’t even notice.

I will probably end up shooting Jackie’s S2000 again come this season with his new goodies, but for now.. this is how it sat before we closed 2009. In a way, I think we’re all trying to post up what we had for 2009 so that everyone can take a look at what we had and what we have coming. Think of them as fillers or teasers until Spring finally comes. Before you know it, you’ll be seeing sick rides all over ill.motion.

These two cars are the definition of balance and quality. You’ll begin to see a recurring theme with the cars we put on here – from the attention to detail the guys have to the expectation for nothing less than quality parts.

The build for these two cars has always pushed the envelope for the local guys in the tuning scene. You’re thinking of it? They’ve done it. Very rarely will you see a similar car because they strive to be different and by the time people have caught on, they’ve moved on. Keep checking back for updates during the spring of these two cars and what they have in store. It’s almost like free advertising!

iM Feature: Terence Wah’s Honda S2000

Last summer Arif and I had the opportunity to shoot Terence’s S2000. There are plenty of s2000’s that are out there, but notably only a few stand out. Among them stands Terence’s.
After getting to know Terence and his car, he is a guy with attention to detail and taste. Function and form is his philosophy and very rarely will you see any mod on his car that won’t help him out on the track.
The reason for this feature is his plan for this season. Terence has big plans ready for 2010 and this will be the first place you’ll see it because I vow to be the first one to shoot it haha

They don’t call Terence the man with the God Hand for nothing. 2010 will be sure to prove this.

iM Feature: Nick Chow’s AP1

Yuuuuup!!!

If Nick Chow’s S2K had to be summed up in two words, those words would definitely have to be “form” and “function”. Inspired by the J’s Racing JGTC S2000, this whip was definitely built to murder the track. I could probably write a whole article on Nick’s AP1 but I think I’ll let the modifications list/pictures do the rest of the talking.
