iM: Weekly 403 Honda/Beyond Meet – June 22, 2011

With the recent end of the hockey season and finally a nice clearing for the weather, our weekly meets have resumed. It’s so sick how the turnouts lately have been quite large and people are bringing out their rides and sharing their effort. Unfortunately, it gives us more work to do to take these pics, but in the end it helps make for a unique post every week.

Lots of crazy cars this week. Let’s keep this up and bring all your friends!

iM: Weekly 403 Honda/Beyond Meet – May 11, 2011

Once again, we have our weekly beyond meet and it only continues to get bigger. This was my first time out this year and I have to say, it was nice to see so many legit cars coming out nowadays. Compared to last year, where we would see maybe 10-15 cars every week filling up one row, we’re getting to 4 and maybe even 5 rows some nights.

One thing I’d also like to say is that it seems that everyone has really stepped their game up over the last few seasons which is awesome to see. Nice parts, nicely kept cars, new things to see.. I think that’s what our car scene needs.

Lastly, like all of the posts we’ve had about the beyond meets.. We just want to stress that good behavior at the meets is expected. Last night was a good night for everybody minus the guys that think letting ‘er rip down the ramp is still cool. Let’s keep this up and make it a good time for everyone.

iM: Weekly 403 Honda/Beyond.ca Chinook Meet – March 30,…

With the exception of the 20cm of snow we got today, it seems as though the coming of the spring/summer season is imminent. And with that brings the return of the 403 Honda/Beyond.ca weekly meets. Here are a few pictures from the first meet of 2011 (and a preview/debut of a few people’s cars summer mode). Be sure to show up when you can to keep the meets busy and fun and to check out some rides. These meets happen every Wednesday evening at Chinook Centre in the rear upper parkade.

iM Random Snaps: Fadi Borhot’s Mazda RX-8

The homie Fadi Borhot (of Tunerworks Calgary) purchased a new whip and called us up earlier this afternoon to take a few random snaps. Being that it was “Lazy Sunday” and downtown Calgary was pretty much empty, this was the perfect opportunity to take a few pics on Stephen Ave/Bankers Hall. As of right now the car is pretty much stock(sitting on 18″ Enkei J10s), but definitely stay tuned this season to see what tricks Fadi has up his sleeve for this beast.

In the meantime enjoy these snaps!

iM Highlight: 2008 Mazda "SLOWAGN"

|Words and Photos: Kevin Stachniak

When you hear the growl of Greddy’s Ti-C exhaust, followed by the sound of Turbosmart’s Hybrid blow-off valve, a Mazda hatchback isn’t the first thing you expect to roll up beside you.

Most people assume it’s a Mazda 3 and laugh out-loud ’cause they’re thinking “This fool is running a Honda S2000 Mazda 3…” However that becomes an apparent mistake when the car takes off, as the only thing that this tuned Mazda Speed3 GT shares with the Mazda 3 is the overall body shape.

Lowered on Cobb Springs, and wearing 18″ Rota Formula Mesh shoes laced up with some Kumho Ecsta SPT Tyres, the car maintains a lightly lowered stance, while remaining stylish & functional for cruising year-round.

Other cosmetic changes include Street Unit’s blackout “Flying M” logos, blackout Side Markers and some JDM styled yellow high beams & fog Lights.

When you pop the hood, some of the goodies found amidst the standards of the MS3 include a Cobb SRI Intake, Cobb Turbo Inlet, and a Turbosmart Hybrid BOV.

As for the junk in the trunk ( where most would expect a couple bags of groceries): a JL 10w7 Sub, JL high output spec.’d box and a JL 500.1/v2 amp keep the beats bumpin’.

iM Feature: Aubrey Amante’s 2008 Mazdaspeed3

While Jason was anxious to try out his new lens, I gave Aubrey a call so we could do a shoot and feature on her 2008 Mazdaspeed3.

As most of you already know, it’s very rare to come across ladies who are as into the car scene as we (us men) are. However, when you meet people like Aubrey and her Mazdaspeed3, you’ll start to realize that the women of the scene aren’t in it to just sit and look pretty.

In my honest opinion, this is probably one of the sickest MS3’s you’ll find in Calgary. “Simplicity at its best” is a phrase that definitely fits right in with this vehicle.

Everything from the yellow foglights, the smoked head/tail lights, the “JDM” Axela badging on the rear hatch, the Autoexe front bumper, and it’s sick stance are enough to give the car the attention it deserves.

To boot, it’s got enough power to hurt the ego of any alpha male that tries to get in it’s way! LOL!…maybe I shouldn’t laugh.

On to the pictures…
