Z-Generates : The 240Z & 350Z

Have you ever met that smoking hot girl, gone to her house, and upon meeting her mom, you can totally see that her bodily curves are just a newer improved version of her mom’s?

Her mom would have been smoking hot in her day, and there are defiantly some people out there that think she still is…

That’s the first thing that came to mind when shooting these two Z’s. Though separated by a few generations, you can see the subtle influences of the older Datsun 240Z in the Nissan 350Z.

Though they are both powered by 6 cylinder plants, I noticed the 2.4L I-6 in the 240Z sounds much like an American muscle car, where as the 3.5L V6 in the Nissan 350Z sounds more of a Japanese in-line engine…. Ironic? I think so.

Godzilla’s Special Child – R32 GT-R Nismo Edition #181

Being my first illmotion post, I wanted to give a throwback to one of my favorite cars of of all time: the R32 Skyline. Steve’s R32 is 1 of 560 Nismo brainchildren,  possessing the aerodynamic changes to the original production car that Nissan’s racing division had devised for their Group A racing cars. The car still possesses the original factory gunmetal paint ( the only factory color available for the Nismo editions) as well as the Nismo front bumper with the extended lip, Nismo bumper ducts, Nismo hood lip and the Nismo side skirts. The trunk however, has been removed and swapped with a Seibon CF unit, and the stance altered with the help of some HKS Hipermax III Super Sport Coilovers, and a set of nicely fitting Advan RG II’s ( 18X10 : +20) wrapped in Yokohama Advan A048 (285/30/18) tires.

Steve has also decided to swap out the already reasonably large GT-R front calipers and rotors for a set of Brembo 6 Piston Monoblock calipers and AP Racing 355mm 2 piece rotors.

iM: Random Snaps

Last weekend we were down at STRD getting ready for a cruise and Randy’s car was acting up a little bit. He took it for a few rips, shot some fire (which I unfortunately could not get very well since it was still pretty bright out), and looked pretty.

And in this last shot, you can see the tiny bit of flame that I captured. Prashant has an HD video of it all, so once he posts it you’ll get to hear and see this beast in action. Too crazy.

DETO Feature: Jtune Performance

This is DETO’s very first performance shop feature. As you follow DETO, we will do our best to bring you tuning culture in it’s rawest form while trying to inform and entertain. With that said, welcome to Jtune Performance, located right in Wilmington, Delaware. Jtune is a one-stop shop for every grade of the racing enthusiast.

Jtune specializes in everything from dyno tuning your daily driver to building fire-breathing beasts. Here, Hok the owner, shows us where they do all of their custom fabrication and machining.

Jtune are able and ready to tune any make or model, but their specialty are Nissan and Infinities. While I was there, Jtune was currently tuning a Nissan from every level of the spectrum…

10 second Z anyone?

Here’s a 700hp Z that is a repeat customer with Jtune. Hok says that the owner of the Z won’t stop until the car is in the 9’s. He enjoys the sheer bliss of walking Z06’s all day 🙂 And with that said, Hok made a good point. After dropping 10-20k on your dream car, why would you take it to the local lube station just so the high school kid working there can strip the nut right off your oil pan? Regular maintenance is part of the package at Jtune.

EVO tails on a Prelude, this one had me confused at first..

Ahh,…an RB with a Tomei head+Cosworth block=match made in heaven.

There’s Mike working on a secrete project for a customer of theirs.

Here you are looking at a Nissan SR20 in a FF application. Yes, you read that right. You’d normally find this motor in a 240(or in Japan in the Sunny or Pulsar), but it’s being installed in a Sentra. This customer has something special to show up all his Honda friends…I kinda feel bad, they’ll never see it coming… 🙂

Mike(Jtune) and Tyrone(DETO) comparing pros and cons of Nissans and Hondas.

Here’s a pic of Niki being caught off guard…

So far I showed you where Jtune resides and what they do. Hok invited me to follow them over to Wall Twp, NJ for round 3 of Formula D so I could show you Jtune in action. The car you see is the V-LEDS drift car from Washington state being drifted by the young and talented Dean Kearney. As you can see below, I had to maneuver around the Jtune staff as they quickly prepped the car in between practice sessions.

It took all day, but i finally caught up with Dean. Dean is from Ireland and went pro at 16 making a name for himself as a fierce competitor in the Prodrift Super Series, he’s now 21 and is determined to take the title here in the states.

All in together here is the Jtune staff. Starting top left and going clock-wise is Mike, Hok, Niki and Nuri.

As you can imagine, there are plenty of performance shops here in the tri-state that I could have done a feature on. I picked Jtune for many reasons. These guys are passionate about what they do, they literally live and breath it from the sheer knowledge they exude to holding their very own track day at Englishtown Raceway. They are the most down-to-earth group while being on top of their game at what they do. Do yourself a favor and pay these guys a visit at:

iM: Dorifto Fun

I was sitting here all day trying to partition my mac hard drive to get windows to run on it but it just hasn’t been my day.
Eric messages me and says he wants to go cruise or do something. I’m down – I need to get out of the house anyway and the damn mac boot camp was frustrating the hell out of me LOL

This is the first time I’ve seen Eric’s car since it’s been done for this season. I think the biggest additions to his arsenal this year are the Rays Victrix Kreutzer’s.
18×9 +26 with a 15mm spacer (Effectively, +11) in the front
18×10 +26 in the rear
And his custom purple sparkle 6pt Cusco cage. Check it.

iM Feature: Greg’s R32 Skyline

Our buddy Jeff Chin from the 780 sent me a sick write up for a local Skyline the other day. I’ve been pretty busy trying to get around everything but here it is! Enjoy, and look forward to more from Jeff and the crew down in Edmonton.

The R32 Skyline GTR was introduced to the Japanese market in 1989, and was hailed as one of the greatest Japanese cars ever produced.
In July 06, Greg flew to Japan to find the love of his life that he had dreamt of owning since 14. That particular car was the Nissan GTR nicknamed Godzilla. When he found it, it was mostly stock with a boost controller, intakes, exhaust, coilovers and rocking some Enkei RP01’s.  By the time he got it home in September of that year he already had parts waiting to start modding it.
I myself have always been a sucker for a properly done cars and this is no execption. I’ll let the pics do the talking.
