iM: The Re-Up 2010 (Part 8)

Our final chapter in the 2010 Re-up. Hope you all enjoyed!
I want to take the time to thank everyone for the support that we’ve had over the past 9 months that allowed us as a group to become what we are today. We never really thought it’d be something like this and now that it’s only going up from here, we just want to share our appreciation. We have a bunch of new stuff in store for 2011 and a surprise should be up in store in the new few weeks!

Over the past 9 months we have been able to raise tons of charity money with the help of you guys to donate to The Alberta Children’s Hospital, MADD Canada, and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. This year, we’re looking once again to raise more money to donate to more foundations. We look forward to having you guys support us supporting others!

With that said, 2011 is finally here and we’re looking forward to having even more turn outs and cars to feature and show you guys. Those of you that were with us since the beginning also knew about our turnout at Driven 2010. We hope that some of you that might be fresh to the game or are ready to show, come out and show with us for 2011! Let’s finish this off.

Jackson’s ASM Honda s2000 is no joke. With ITB’s, ASM kit and J’s racing accessories, it’s both track and street ready. This Honda s2000 is nothing but perfection. Attention to detail goes a long way!

Most of you already probably knew this was coming. Jackie’s internet sensation s2000 has been seen pretty much everywhere. He’s been pushing the limits of the stock body with aggressive fitment, slammed stance and pushing it at the track. I think that’s all that needs to be said about Jackie’s s2000. Check it out.

Another player in the game is Alex Markovic. His Integra is rarely driven and pretty much everything in this whip is fresh and mint. When you get down to it, every little piece from the paint to the bolt is changed. Nothing is left unnoticed which is what makes Alex’s Integra different from the rest.

Reggie’s Integra was built in less than a year and extremely quick to get it to how you see it today. With a top one diffuser, status seats, topped out with a mugen style wing and an aggressive stance, Reggie’s Integra had become quite a head turner.

To end it off, we’re gonna show you Driven 2010. This was one of the biggest turnouts for illmotion at the annual car show. We did our first fundraising event for The Alberta Children’s Hospital and we also had the largest turnout in Driven history. We will be back for 2011, hopefully with even more new cars and fresher builds.

This MR2 has been a build of Ryan’s for quite some time and the results just leave any onlooker in shock and awe. Ryan’s ambition and hard work on his Mid-Ship Runner most definitely deserves every ounce of attention it receives.

Not a stranger to the Calgary car scene, Jason’s had a wide variety of sick whips ranging from a unique Cavalier to a couple of S2000s, a WRX, and a turbo FD2. His latest project, an EVO X, is already in the right direction to becoming another one of his dope builds.

A young veteran in the Honda tuning game, was there any doubt in anyone’s minds that Nick Chow’s S2K wasn’t gonna be fresh to death? With inspiration from the J’s Racing JGTC S2K, it’s no wonder “CHOWFUN’s” build is the definition of stuntin’. NIIICE!

We previously hit you with the Re-Up of Romel Tenchavez’s 1985 Toyota Corolla GT-S Turbo and up next we have his 18 year build, a 1977 Toyota Celica GT Turbo (Fuel Injected). This car’s ‘been there and done that’ when it comes to our scene’s trends and fads. One thing remains the same though, it will forever be a timeless classic.

illmotion’s very own Jason Hoang had all 8th Gen Civic owners in a head lock when he unleashed his FG’s set up this year. Sporting a J’s Racing wing, nicely fitted Work Meisters and a Spoon diffuser, whether you loved it or hated it, mission accomplished: Jason without a doubt ‘Made You Look’.

On Sunday, September 12 2010, illmotion had the pleasure of attending a “Park & Polish” fundraiser held by MADD Canada. The thing I love the most about illmotion and those of you who support us is the dedication we have when it comes to fundraisers and giving back to the community.

Being that this was pretty much the event to end Calgary’s car season, all the homies got together, came out to flash the whips and at the same time, support MADD Canada. Thanks again to all that came out that day whether it was showing off your ride or just supporting the cause.

One of our most anticipated shoots of 2010. Benny’s F20 powered AE86 is a sight to be seen. Super mint with a super fresh paint job. Under the hood is a fresh F20 powerplant with an equally clean interior. Benny doesn’t joke around!

Justin’s first feature before his ITR was his slammed EG hatch. Not hellaflush, but hella slammed. It’s awesome to see someone still going with the oldschool trend and not working too hard with offset. THe best thing is, when you see it, you can still appreciate the work put into it cause it’s so dope.

Simple yet effective build of an s2000. Sometimes less is more and this is where it is displayed. Verlen’s S2000 is easy on the eyes, yet still aggressive enough to turn some heads. Check it!

One of our first euro features that we have had comes from Edmonton Alberta. The Porsche GT3. It was nice to see the euro guys coming out and allowing us to have them up on our site. Peep the powerhouse!

Steve’s R32 skyline was again, one of our first features. To make things better, his R32 is 1 out of 560 Nismo-built GT-R’s. Steve’s car still even rocks original gunmetal paint that was exclusive to Nismo editions. RHD, big turbo, 18×10 +20? Yes, please.

Mike had been one of our photographers and had the opportunity to pick up this GTI to begin his own passion. Once again, Mike has decided to stay clean and fresh with his GTI and that is something we can all appreciate!

Finally, Matt’s Honda S2000 is another example of a clean ride with just enough jazz to make it different. The Shine diffuser is a nice finishing touch for the rear end and the stance overall makes it pop. It doesn’t take much to make an S2000 stand out and Matt shows us why.

Only one word can describe Justin’s style when it comes to his cars: DUMPED. Following suit with this style from Justin, here we have a recent feature of his Type-R. Going against the grain of “hella flush illest poke flush stance”, Justin’s ITR keeps it subtle yet effective:

Another recent feature here on illmotion, Jamie’s S2000 is definitely one that will snap your neck. Recognized for constantly being at the track, there’s no denying Jamie’s passion for cars and his dedication for driving.

With wagons becoming a more and more popular platform to build upon, it’s no surprise that Michael Browning sought after a Mazdaspeed 3. With Mazda’s “True Red” finish and a set of gold alloys, it’s only right that Michael focused his attention to the car’s power to vindicate it’s looks.

Andrew Taylor is no stranger to the Volkswagen brand. When he purchased this GTI VR6 Turbo from the owner of the very same name, never did he front nor claim that he built this car himself. However with a few modifications of his own, it won’t be very long until Andrew “Taylors” this GTI to make it his own.

illmotion crew member Aldrich Evangelista doesn’t mess around when it comes to attention to detail. His 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX is a true testament to this statement. With constant innovations done to his WRX, we can’t wait to see what Rich has in store for this Subie next season.

The Perfect Dark, responsible for a lot of vinyl work done on Calgary’s whips whether it be window tinting, car wrapping, to headlight & taillight 3M applications. Steve’s also got the Carbon Fiber wrap game on lock too! If you ever wondered what this homie with sick talent drove, well have a look:

It’s very rare that you’ll find a girl in this scene. But when you do come across someone like Aubrey, there’s no denying that the girls can play just as well as the guys. Believe that. The Autoexe front bumper and grille definitely set this speed3 apart from the rest too!

A dope set of Works and a DIY Matte Black vinyl wrap on this Civic Si and you’ll know right away that Chris Chan is doing big things for this project. Though still an unfinished project, it’ll be interesting to see what Chris has in store for this Si for next season. We can’t wait.

What would illmotion be without Dal and Jackie’s whips? Dal’s K20 powered monster and Jackie’s internet sensation S2k. Attention to detail, parts and function while still pushing the boundaries of fitment and style, both Jackie and Dal have it down. If you’re ever down at the track, you’ll see these guys pushing the limits of their cars. Peep their feature.

If you guys remember way back when we first started, we had Davey-Lee’s Porsche up and it might not have been the tuner car that some of us are used to, but it is definitely a car that deserves praise. Davey has kept her Porsche in pristine condition and it’s things like this that every auto enthusiast can appreciate.

Darren’s RSX is one of the few around town that has been built up cleanly with Mugen’s style. Shortly after getting his new shoes, we wanted to shoot it and be the first to have it up on interwebz. White is right.

Al’s been in this car game for a long time and we had the opportunity to shoot his X5 before the summer came to an end. Over the years he has been building cars from ITR’s to Nissan Skylines. Even with a family, Al is still in the game in a different form. Baller status.

Terence and his Merc has been holding its own for as long as we can remember and since this past year, he’s been fitted with some new additions to keep it unique while classy at the same time. Terence and his perfectionist attitude helps him build this Mercedes in a style much different than the VIP look that we’re used to… and we love it.

iM: The Re-Up 2010 (Part 1)

‘March 2010.

8 friends got together and decided to start a Calgary based car crew. When deciding to use the name “illmotion”, it was only a matter of time that these 8 individuals would create a website to bring fellow car enthusiasts from all over the world together and see how cars are modified in Alberta, and Canada in general.’

With 2010 being a great year for illmotion and over 40 cars featured on the site, we would like to take this opportunity to recap all the cars we’ve featured and highlighted (with links provided of course) since we started illmotion (in no special order, keeping it random).

We would also like to thank the owners of these vehicles for taking the time to come out and do these photoshoots with us. For without the owners of these vehicles, there would be no “illmotion” nor most importantly, a scene in which we can all share this passion we have for modifying and tuning our vehicles.

March definitely does not seem that long ago, and since then we’ve garnered so much love and support from you guys that we can’t wait to get the 2011 season rolling.

Nowadays, finding a non-rusted, non-bastardized AE86 is hard to find in Calgary. Well look no futher than Romel’s Zenki Turbo AE86 project. Rockin’ a fresh set of Dori-Doris and a Zenki front end (Zenki rear to be installed next year) Romel is on the right track in his pursuit for a one-off Zenki AE86.

Steve was definitely on point when it came to modifying his 2002 Acura RSX Type-S. Sitting on a nice set of Advan RGs and sporting Mugen Aero, stay tuned next year to see what Steve has in store for his super clean DC5.

Our very first (and unforgettable) ‘official’ illmotion feature, Cee’s S2000 was the definition of “Simplicity is Key”. The black exterior sitting on nicely fitted gun-metallic TE37s just sets it off! Well, it caught our attention anyways.
