August 21st was the biggest day for the city and illmotion. We had the opportunity to set up one of the best car shows Calgary has ever seen thanks to Rhys from Revwerks and all the local shops that sponsored and attended the event.
On behalf of the illmotion crew, I want to thank everybody that participated in entering their cars, coming out to check out the cars, and making it such a successful event for us. We want to try and push this participation into next year, so over this long winter, we hope that everybody is still working on their cars and doing what they love to do!
Back on July 16, 2011 the illmotion crew headed out to Vancouver, BC and attended the DTP Auto Show that took place at the Rocky Mountaineer Station. This marked the first road trip ever for illmotion as a crew and what an amazing road trip it was!
The weather did play an important factor at DTP Vancouver however the rain did not stop anyone from coming out and showcasing a fine arsenal of cars from Vancouver and surrounding areas.
illmotion @ DTP Vancouver was definitely one for the books and we hope more road trips will happen in the future!
The crew meeting up before heading down to Vancouver together. First thing on the agenda was to fuel up and wait for the rest of the cars to show up.
On the way to Vancouver, got stuck in some rain.
Had to stop and let everyone catch up that got left behind.
What made the trip more fun was that we all had radios to talk to each other.
Had to get more gas in Salmon Arm and grab some lunch.
Steve losing some tape due to driving in the rain.
Decided to just take it off before it damaged the paint.
Ryan trying to figure out directions.
Some locals commenting on Ryan’s car.
Rolling shot of Punit’s car while Jackie tries to take a shot as well.
Quick rolling shot of the Low-Rolla.
Shot of Ryan’s EP3 rollin’.
Last stop before heading into Vancouver, where everyone decided to take the tape off their cars.
Entering Vancouver and stuck in rush hour traffic.
Finally got to the hotel.
Day of the show it was raining, but we still had to wash the cars.
Since it was raining on and off on the day of the show, we decided to buy a tent to stay warm and dry.
Some of us decided to get rentals for a day to get around.
Finally it stopped raining, time to take pictures of the cars at the show.
Updating our twitter and facebook accounts…or am I?
Checking out the cars.
Punit’s hood pins will not close when wet.
Terence chilling in the tent and eating lunch.
Everyone else decided to join him and take a break.
All our cars lined up.
Ryan pretending to dry his car after it stopped raining for the 10th time.
Corey got into the spirit and dried his Civic.
After the show ended we decided to get a little late night dinner.
We went go karting and got the entire track just for us.
The only thing Steve and Brad wanted to do was hit each other.
Heading back to Calgary and got stuck in more rain.
Finally back home.
What made this trip even more special was the iM Crew did not go home empty handed and brought home 4 awards: Best Stance Showoff, Best Subaru, Best Classic Showoff, and illmotion’s Punit Patel taking home 2nd Place Best Acura.
If you didn’t get a chance to peep our coverage from DTP Vancouver, peep the 3 part coverage here:
Hitting you guys up with Part 5 of our Re-Up 2011 post rounding off the iM Features and iM Highlights that you’ve seen over the course of the year.
We can’t thank you guys enough for continuing to hold it down with us here on illmotion and be sure to look forward for more features and highlights in the new year!
Stay tuned for two more iM Re-Up specials featuring illmotion x DTP Vancouver and probably our biggest event in 2011, Sunday School: Show & Shine 101.
On to our final Features & Highlights of 2011:
|OWNER: Ricky Luu |VEHICLE: VW MKV GTI
Clean and proper is a perfect way to describe Ricky’s GTI sitting on nicely stanced set of CCWs. Still a work in progress, we’ll be paying close attention to what Ricky has in store for next year!
Without a shadow of a doubt, it can be agreed the Volk TE37 is one of the most classic wheels of all time. It’s no wonder Reggie rocked a set on his E92BMW 328xi.
Gonna keep things moving along while we’re on a roll here with Part 4 of our Re-Up 2011 special showcasing vehicles that’ve featured or highlighted over the past year…
|OWNERS: Cecilia & Colin |VEHICLES: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X & Subaru Impreza WRX STI
One of our very first features that kicked off the 2011 season for illmotion. Highlighting the perfect marriage between two rival manufacturers.
Here’s another dope feature coming out of Toronto courtesy of the homie GAWA. Have a second look at David Soo’s tastefully modded Honda Civic Si sittin’ on some fresh AME wheels.
No stranger to the iM Crew, Josh Sivadas unleashed this E46 M3 Cabriolet sitting on some matte black Volk TE37s. Although having parted with the car earlier this year, we can’t wait to see what Josh has in store for his new project!
illmotion’s own Jason Hoang continues to keep the haters talking with his new project, a Subaru STI sedan. This is only the beginning. You’ve been warned.
|OWNER: Orlando Tan |VEHICLE: 1986 Toyota Corolla GT-S
One of the sickest AE86s in Calgary, we were excited to shoot this car since we first started illmotion. It wasn’t until this year that we finally got to shoot this beast, and what a beast it really is.
Gonna keep things going with our Re-Up 2011 showcasing cars that have graced our blog over the last year.
As Christmas is slowly winding down, we just wanna wish you guys a Merry Christmas and we hope it was a good one!
Leggo!
|OWNER: Mike Salek |VEHICLE: 2005 Ducati 999R
Although not your typical iM Highlight, when we were given the opportunity to shoot Mike’s hefty collection of bikes we were damn excited to do so. Peep Salek’s Ducati 999R.
As 2011 draws to a close, we would like to take this time to review the year that was the Features and Highlights of illmotion.
None of this would be possible without the cooperation of the owners during the shoots, but more importantly the continuing support of you all! Thank you all for making 2011 another great year and we cannot wait to get the 2012 season started!
Happy Holidays everyone! We hope you guys get all that you wish for and we hope that you all be safe and have fun this holiday season!
Let’s get this Re-Up started…
|Owner:Brad Atkins |Car: 2000 Honda Civic SiR
Some of you may remember when we first featured Brad’s Civic back in 2010, this year he upped the ante by boosting his SiR and doing a 5-lug conversion. We cannot wait to see what wheels Brad’s got this year 😉
This year we were blessed with some sick content coming out of Toronto courtesy of GAWA. Chris Chu’s STI was just the beginning of the quality that we saw coming from TO.
Now, this is one MR2 that took the internet by storm this year, and it was because of this little fall shoot we did. Find out why bloggers and car lovers alike straight geeked over Redlyne’s perfection.
