iM Highlight: Annie Carbonneau’s Legacy GT
In May 2003, Subaru released the fourth generation Legacy GT. It was always the bigger more luxurious car in the Subaru lineup, but Subaru really stepped it up with this new version. It came with a variant of the 2.5L turbo motor from the North American debut of the WRX STI, and it was the perfect choice for people looking for an AWD Subaru with a decent amount of power, but wanting a little bit more room and luxury as opposed to the WRX and STI.
When Annie was looking for a new vehicle as her old Ford Escape was on her way out, she pondered a few options. One thing was for sure, the avid ringette player needed room to carry her gear to and from her games, and also truck around her kids. She also wanted something decent on gas, but with AWD and enough power to have a little bit of fun with.
She finally settled on a Legacy GT, and eventually found this mint 2006 Satin White Pearl Legacy GT wagon that you see here in BC last winter. It’s previous owner already had a moderate set of mods on including a Cobb AccessPort with which the car was given a healthy torque and power boost, along with a set of KW V2 coilovers, and Cobb front and rear sway bars to help in the handling department.
After the winter was over, spring fever hit, and she needed to personalize things a little bit. A few small things were done, like the headlight and taillight/reverse light tint, yellow foglight film, and tinting the windows (all done by Steve at Perfect Dark Tinting). But she was still rolling on the stock Legacy wheels with winter tires. Not wanting to eat up the winter tires, a quick call was made to Bob at UrbanX wheel and tires, and a set of 19″ OZ Superleggaras made its way onto the car, and the ride height was dialed in for the perfect balance of comfort and aggressiveness.
There may be a few more little things added to this car, but as it stands, she just wants to enjoy it. After all, thats what this scene is all about, and hopefully it continues that way.

Sorry if this post bored you. Actually, no, I’m not.
Yes, we feature big builds all the time here on illmotion. Thats because we appreciate the hard work that is put into them. But just because a car doesn’t get a big high dollar build, baller overnight shipped parts, and isn’t sitting half a hair off the ground doesn’t mean we appreciate it any less. For all we know, these cars have just as much blood sweat and tears put into them. We’ve featured/highlighted cars built for the track, build for show, built to race, built to cruise. This car happens to be built for daily driving. We take the time to look at all sorts of builds, big or small.
To everyone out there reading these articles, and supporting us in general: continue doing what you want to your car. Its your car. Thats what this tuning scene is all about, individuality. Don’t let anyone discourage you from what you are doing. Everyone has an opinion. Build your car for the track, the street, the internet props. You’re putting in work, and we want you to know that we here at illmotion appreciate it. To ‘lol’: if you think we’ve run out of cars, you haven’t seen nothing yet. Don’t like what we do? The internet is a big place, and I’m sure you can find something less boring.
The last two features are very inspiring, knowing that such stock cars are feature worthy makes me happy that my car can be featured on here one day, I really like what you guys are doing for this car community, showing people what a quality build really is
Since winter is rolling around the corner, featuring winter beaters is not a bad idea.
