iM Event Coverage: Edmonton Season Opener
The long awaited Season Opener has come and gone. Regardless of what we went through to get to the meet it was a a great trip and was awesome to see some familiar faces after a long winter.
As we woke up the morning of, text messages were flying back and forth between all of us deciding if it was safe to go. The snow was falling heavily in Calgary with no signs of sun peaking through and giving us a break. The few of us who were waiting for this day for months decided that we must go and we set out as planned.
When we got to our meeting spot it was cold and the snow was falling but none of us were worried because the roads were just wet and the snow wasn’t settling.
So we set out towards Edmonton. The further we got from home the worse it got, the snow was coming down in huge snow flakes and everything was covered…but we braved on!
Finally about 45 minutes into our trip the snow slowed and eventually turned to light rain. To shake off the scary drive through all that snow we took a pit stop in Red Deer.
Almost in Edmonton with dry roads and the sun peaking.
Arriving quite early into Edmonton we had decided to head over to IHOP to enjoy some pancakes and breakfast items for lunch seeing as we don’t have one in Calgary!
We all loaded up on food for the day and made our way over to SpeedTech’s shop as we were told they were holding a BBQ event. Upon arriving we saw no one in the front…turns out everyone was in the back.
So we ended up going to our last destination before the Season Opener meet which was a shop/detail bay provided so generously by our good friends Isaac & Daniel.
Lined up ready to wash up.
Washing the remnants of snow off.
What’s a clean car without a photoshoot!
Our brand new Multisparkle Decals!
And off we go to meet, all cleaned up.
Once we arrived to the meet the cars started rolling in one after another. About an hour later and every parking spot in and around United Cycle was filled!
Good ol’ Ruckus
Nice low Miata.
Golf R on BBS’s
Two sick G35’s
Project Mu brakes and HRE’s. Love that set up
Such a sick set up! If only you could do that with a bucket seat.
Nice Evo X on RG-D’s
Some American muscle
This thing was beastly. Even at idle, it sounded menacing.
He left a bit early and we all “knew” he was gonna do something…
There you have it. haha still sick
Nice purple RPF1’s on a STI sedan. Perfect color and job on it.
Merc on air
Good to see a Fit there. I think this was the only one there and it looked pretty good.
Sick Vdub on air. That Tim’s cup was crushed when he raised the rears. hahaha
This had to easily be the best car there and we all agreed on it. Tastefully done and executed perfectly. Right down to the wheels and brakes. You might remember a video done on it by Isaac and Daniel Varty we had on it a long while ago… Good job sir!
Had a soft spot for this Volvo. Had a handful of stickers all over his window and many of them being the special edition illmotion stickers – breast cancer and movember ones!
Due to the huge turnout and the large number of pics, you can see the rest by clicking HERE

I saw that on facebook! Nice to see all that support! Thanks, Zach!
To the owner of the black mk5 VW Gti that was with you, “We Can’t Afford Lambos” is a group we started through the GolfMKV forums here. A groups of us that were at the United Cycle Show like your car, and would really like you to join so others in the group can see your car too.
Nice! Some good looking cars. I got cousins up in Edmonton. I would love to live up there.
