iM Event Coverage: Weekly 403 Honda/Beyond.ca Meet – June…

It was a nice sunny day on Wednesday June 15 to head up to the weekly 403 Honda/Beyond.ca meets. With the rain finally deciding to let up for a night, it was nice to get out there and check out some rides. Actually, it was a little too sunny out as you can tell by some of my pictures, and was getting hard to fight the sun and the shadows, so I gave up and went inside to eat, only to come back outside with it being cloudy again.

Here are a few shots that turned out, all the rest can be found on our Flickr set: HERE

iM Event Coverage: Weekly 403 Honda/Beyond.ca Meet – June…

There was quite a turnout this past week for the Beyond.ca meet! Unfortunately I didn’t capture too many photos this time around but I hope you can get an idea of what was present. If I missed your car, I’m sorry!

I would like to mention though that on this particular Wednesday, we had a visit from a few Calgary police officers. They arrived in their cars and took a few laps of the parking lot to see what was going on. Nothing was ‘wrong’ so they happily chatted to a few owners and then went on their way. We are very lucky that Chinook allows us to meet here each week and all we need to do in return is behave and be mature. Occasionally someone feels the need to try drifting or to do a burnout, and stunts like that will just make us all look bad.

With that little reminder out of the way, here are the photos!

A couple of us are bringing our R/C cars back to the meets now as well; feel free to join in if you have one! The more the merrier.

Ford

iM Highlight : Jules Cragg’s Ford Focus Zx5

If there were any words that you could use to describe Jules’ Focus when it first rolls up, “Smitten” would have to be one of them. A Street Appearance Package front and rear bumper set, along with an RS Style spoiler and a mix of other customized bits really set off the initial impression of the car, and really differentiate it  from your “average” Focus.
As a Ford fan through and through (she actually has the iconic Ford “mustang” tattooed on her arm, and her daughter bears  the name “Eleanor”), the Focus was an ideal platform to start building her daily driver and child hauler.

She admitted  to me she wishes she was lower, but daily driving in a city that is home to millions of chasms between traffic lights, practicality and reliability was a factor. Regardless of ride height, you can’t deny that she’s nailed down an excellent flush fitment for her Rotiform BLQ’s.

She has hinted that she’s pretty satisfied with the exterior appearance of the car, and will hopefully be getting into some engine work and go-fast parts in the next few seasons.

Euro

iM Highlight: Lani’s Mk4 Jetta Vr6

One of my major goals while writing for illmotion was to bring as much euro content to the website as possible. It wasn’t long ago that I shot this beautiful example of a properly done Mk4 Jetta. One of the coolest features of this car is the completely original Votex body kit from VW. If any of you are familiar with Votex, you know how hard it is to find a clean example. Another cool feature about the car is that it was featured on Euro Tuner some years ago. While the car has remained virtually the same since the feature, Lani has many plans to build upon an already excellent example in the future.

Fitted 2013

iM Event Coverage: Stretch & Poke’s 4th Annual “Fitted”…

On May 25, 2013 Stretch & Poke held their 4th annual “Fitted Lifestyle Event”, showcasing the creme de la creme of stanced/modified cars coming out of Toronto and surrounding areas. For the past three years, Stretch & Poke hosted their Fitted event in Downsview Park (Toronto, Ontario). With the Fitted Lifestyle Event becoming more and more popular every year and cars attending by the masses, this year’s event was held at a much larger venue at the Brampton Fairgrounds in Caledon, Ontario.

Our “illmotion East” Photographer and Level One representative Galen Wan (aka Gawa) was in attendance and was more than gracious enough to hook us up with some amazing coverage from this year’s Fitted Lifestyle Event.

Before we continue on to the pictures we just want take this time to give a shout out to our Level One family and congratulations to James for taking home Best Static with his Honda S2000, and Steve Chan for taking home Best Engine Bay with his Honda EK!

Let’s have a look at this year’s 4th Annual Fitted Lifestyle Event…

iM Event Coverage: Calgary Firebird Club’s Show and Shine…

May 26th, 2013 was the latest edition of the Calgary Firebird Club’s annual show and shine. Held in the south Hooters’ parking lot, a nice assortment of cars and trucks arrived. While there were many Firebirds and Trans Ams on site, other Pontiac models and even other makes were there too, to take advantage of the nice weather and to help raise money for the Children’s Wish Foundation.

Bill attended to show his Pontiac and also to capture some photos of the vehicles present, as it’s a different assortment than we are used to seeing at events such as Driven and the weekly Beyond meets. We hope you enjoy!

Driven 2013

iM Event Coverage: Driven 2013 Calgary (Part 5 Wrap…

With Driven 2013 now over a week behind us, we may look at some of the finer details of what was brought out and wrap up our coverage of the event. To view pictures that weren’t included in Parts 1, 2, 3, & 4 visit out Flickr page HERE.

By looking at the finer details we are able to see the good that all our supporters help us achieve at every event. This year, just as the previous two, we supported the Alberta Childrens Hospital Foundation. All proceeds from the sale of our merchandise, which totaled just under $1000.00, will be donated to the foundation. A huge thank-you goes out to all those who support us through donations and purchases of merchandise. We look forward to the next event where we can see our supporters and once again help the community!

If you would like to donate directly to the Alberta Childrens Hospital Foundation please click HERE

Once again a huge thank-you goes out to each and every one of you for your support over the years! We look forward to seeing you all at the Sunday School Show & Shine on August 18th (More details to come) where we will be supporting another great charity and having a ton of fun!

Driven 2013

iM Event Coverage: Driven 2013 Calgary (Part 4)

To add to our coverage of Driven 2013, here are some photos from a little earlier. The day of the show we arrived well before the starting time of 1, as there was still much to do. After making sure the cars were ready I then wandered the floor and took some pictures before the crowds started coming in. The lighting wasn’t the best at this time but I had a great chance to see what was present and not have to worry about shots being blocked.

Driven 2013

iM Event Coverage: Driven 2013 Calgary (Part 2)

Gonna keep things moving with Part 2 of our iM Event Coverage for Driven 2013. We’re not even halfway there with the pictures taken from this day so be sure to stay tuned for much more during the week! With over hundreds in attendance it was definitely quite the task to be able to get coverage of everything so major props to our photographers Corey & Prashant for taking as many photos as they did. Anyways, we hope you enjoy more from Driven! Here’s Part 2…
