iM Highlight: Chris Chan’s 2007 Honda Civic Si

With “simple and effective” being a key note lately here on illmotion, I’d like to draw your attention to Chris Chan’s 2007 Honda Civic Si. When I first saw Chris’s Si via Corey’s coverage of Beyond.ca’s 2010 Summer Cruise, the dope stance and the entire vehicle being wrapped in Flat Black Vinyl immediately caught my eye.

Upon meeting Chris, I had asked him where he got the work done and his reply was something I didn’t expect, which made me appreciate the car even more: “My girlfriend (Samantha) and I worked on it ourselves”.

In this day and age where more and more people look to shops to perform tinting and vinyl work, it’s “Do-It-Yourself-ers” like Chris who you gotta give mad props and appreciation for. I mean, just think of the time, patience, and effort Chris and Samantha put in to complete this vinyl wrapping project!

In addition to (and amazed at) what Chris and Samantha accomplished here, his decision to go with an aggressive wheel and suspension set up definitely compliment this Civic’s overall form, and this is only the beginning for Chris’s Si…

More pics after the jump.

iM: Weekly 403 Honda/Beyond.ca Chinook Meet – Oct. 20/10

With the season winding down and the threat of snow looming, the weekly Wednesday night 403 Honda/Beyond.ca meets are getting quieter and quieter. Not many people show up this time of year due to it getting dark out earlier, and getting cold out. But a few people still go. Took my camera and tripod with me to possibly get some practice on something that I’ve been dreading doing because of my epic failures on previous attempts: low light photography.

I guess my pics came out ok, was messing with the settings all over the place, and got some results that I was happy with. And some nice cars showed up tonight too, so I was happy.

Thirsty?

Being a former Tacoma owner, I still have love for them:

But then I went in for a closer look… DAMN!!!

Only driver in the whole parking lot that couldn’t see the lines. It wasn’t that dark, was it?

In so much love with this Audi with the Benz wheels:

And to finish off, a self-gratifying shot of my car with the preview of how it’ll roll next season… cause I’ve never had a semi-decent stance before!

Oh crap, I almost forgot about a couple cars. Not really important cars, almost didn’t put them up.

But I did anyways since its rare that these two Beyond.ca members would show up.

JordanLotoski’s Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera:

OK, now I’m done.

BMW

iM Feature: Al’s BMW X5izzle

Since we’re on the subject of SUV’s – let’s show some love to Al’s BMW X5. Al is no freshman to the car scene and for those of you who know Al other than being a moderator on beyond.ca, he’s one of the OG’s in the 403. Al has come from a nice stable of cars in the past. From an Integra Type-R to a Mazdaspeed Protege, he moved on to the Euro scene with two Mercedes SL55’s with one of them being an AMG. As if that wasn’t enough power, Al turned to Japan’s “Godzilla”, the Nissan GT-R R32.

Now I guess with age comes sophistication and some practicality. What more can you ask for with the X5. Simplicity works best here and as you can see, it’s still aggressive as ever.

Here’s Al’s setup for the X5
staggered 20″ TSW Estorils
H & R wheel spacers 5mm-F, 10mm-R
lowered 2″ front intrax springs, rr air susp lowered via BMW re-coding

iM: REVWERKS Year End Track Day

Hey everyone just wanted to share a video of one of the last track days that we had here for the season. Unfortunately all the hard work, money, time, blood, sweat and tears we put into our cars here in Calgary only gets to be enjoyed for a few months out of the year. This year was especially dismal as we didn’t really have a summer per say; but we made the most of what we had and took advantage of all the track days we possibly could.

Here is a video of the last Revwerks Lapping Day of the season. Hope you all enjoy.

FX35

iM Feature: Perfect Dark FX35

We’ve had a couple of blog posts here talking about the great work performed by Steve from Perfect Dark Tinting on some of the cars featured, and/or on our own team members cars. So with working on everyone else’s cars, does he have time to work on a vehicle of his own? If he did, what would it look like?

The answer:

This pimp Infiniti FX35 is Steves daily driver, as well as being the shop workhorse capable of hauling around the tools and materials of his trade.

Steve has done most of the work himself to set his FX apart from the crowd. Some of his touches include the tint film on the headlights, foglights, taillights, and rear reflectors. Also, the careful but perfect black vinyl wrap job on the front grille and his own signature design name on his hood/fender ensure that its one of a kind. He also had the factory wheels redone in black to keep in the clean black and white theme.

Look for more of this ride next season as Steve continues to personalize it. And if you need any work done, whether its tint, vinyl wrap, 3M paint protection, or exterior tint films, do not hesitate to contact him at (403) 808-8228 for a quote or appointment. Tell him you saw this article!

Also make sure to check out their Facebook page to ‘like’ them, and to check out pics of work they’ve done (click their logo):

GTI

iM Feature: Dub Rat

Been a while since I have posted some pics so why not continue the Euro theme that seems to be happening right now.

Little story behind this car, the GTi before used to be owned by a friend of mine who did most of the work like sourcing the mint ATS cups and decking it out with rare parts. But I’m pleased to tell you that a couple months ago I had the opportunity to buy it and jumped on it and have never been happier.

Some specs of the car:

2.0L Bottom End
1.8L Head
Unknown Street Cam
Unknown Chip
Raceland Race Header
Full 2.5″ TT exhaust with Borla Muffler
Full Recaro Interior
Euro Tales
15×7 ATS cups wrapped in 195/40 Toyo T1R’s
F+R slotted/drilled disc brakes
Weitec Coils
Bigger sway bars

Not complete without a Royal Pine air freshener hanging from my wink mirror, Plan on getting some new more aggressive wheels next spring, maybe some CCWs and a bigger cam for the motor. Thanks for checking it out.
