iM Feature: Rich’s REX

I was itching to shoot something this evening and I didn’t know where to go or which car to shoot either. I called up JC and asked him and next thing you know, we’re out cruising around ready to shoot Aldrich’s WRX. We haven’t officially shot it before but here it is in all its glory.

Jackson’s Honda Tuning Feature

Received the July 10′ issue in the mail the other day, pretty dope issue I might add. On top of that there was another local car featured, Jackson’s gangstar ASM’d S2000. Feature turned out so good! Go grab a copy as I’m sure its on magazine racks now.

Godzilla’s Special Child – R32 GT-R Nismo Edition #181

Being my first illmotion post, I wanted to give a throwback to one of my favorite cars of of all time: the R32 Skyline. Steve’s R32 is 1 of 560 Nismo brainchildren,  possessing the aerodynamic changes to the original production car that Nissan’s racing division had devised for their Group A racing cars. The car still possesses the original factory gunmetal paint ( the only factory color available for the Nismo editions) as well as the Nismo front bumper with the extended lip, Nismo bumper ducts, Nismo hood lip and the Nismo side skirts. The trunk however, has been removed and swapped with a Seibon CF unit, and the stance altered with the help of some HKS Hipermax III Super Sport Coilovers, and a set of nicely fitting Advan RG II’s ( 18X10 : +20) wrapped in Yokohama Advan A048 (285/30/18) tires.

Steve has also decided to swap out the already reasonably large GT-R front calipers and rotors for a set of Brembo 6 Piston Monoblock calipers and AP Racing 355mm 2 piece rotors.

Other notable modifications include:

iM: jhoang x JLAW wheel swap – Part II

Part II is of my car on Jackie’s TE37’s.. I personally felt that the blue didn’t match bang on, partially because of my red seats – but they were still pretty sick to see.
Concave legendary wheels, custom candy blue, no rub – sick! Anyways.. onto the pictures

iM: jhoang x JLAW wheel swap – Part I

Since last year, Jackie and I have been talking about swapping wheels once we got everything settled and good to go. Finally this evening we swapped his 18×9.5 +22 TE37’s on my car and my 18×9 +26 Meister’s onto his car.

I’ll split this into two parts, first up is Jackie’s car on the Meisters – which I think look fucking gangster. He’s got dish, he’s got fitment and he’s dumped. The white face goes so well with everything.. and well, I’ll let the pictures do the talking.

Chad Gibson x Drift Practice

Hello all,

As a new photographer to illmotion, I’ll make this my introduction post as well as host some shots I took this evening at Race City’s drift practice that happens every other week.

My full name is Chad Gibson and I’m a recent graduate of SAIT Polytechnic’s Photojournalism program. As I continue my search for a job in my field, I am trying to shoot as much as possible before I find my time limited by a career. The illmotion crew was awesome enough to let me on board, and by being a part of the community I hope to get to know the car community in Calgary better as well as forward my experience and contacts.

For those interested, I drive a 4-door Nissan Skyline that is staying as close to stock as possible for reliability and driveability purposes. Mostly though, I have no freaking idea what I’m doing. I am trying to learn though, and maybe one day my car can hang with the rest of the crew and look like it belongs.

Anyways, as mentioned above, every other Wednesday night Race City holds an open drift practice event where anyone can bring their car and do runs on the oval and infield. Tonight was my first time shooting drifting and I’m not happy with a lot of the stuff I got, but by the end I was getting a little better. I should also mention that there were rumors they may stop this recurring event if attendance doesn’t pick up, so get out there and drive or support the sport. My condolences also go out to Rob who had a spectacular crash in his camo-painted 240SX. I’ll let the pictures do the talking from here on out.

Cheers!

Revwerks Track Day

Today was Revwerks second track day down at Race City Motor Park so I decided to go check it out, grab some pictures and hang out. I got there pretty late so I could only grab a few pictures and this is also the first time I’ve shot at a track setting so most of my pictures aren’t that great. However, it was pretty fun, missed most of the action but the day had everything including killing crows, putting out fires, barricade hurdling resulting in cracked ribs and lots of “Oh crap, I broke something”.
ESS Supercharged E90 M3. What a monster.

Arif’s EK about to attack the straight.

MR2’s engine caught on fire due to a melted oil line resulting in a dropped clutch and the contents of 2 fire extinguishers being emptied.

Broken front lip.

iM: Random Snaps

Last weekend we were down at STRD getting ready for a cruise and Randy’s car was acting up a little bit. He took it for a few rips, shot some fire (which I unfortunately could not get very well since it was still pretty bright out), and looked pretty.

And in this last shot, you can see the tiny bit of flame that I captured. Prashant has an HD video of it all, so once he posts it you’ll get to hear and see this beast in action. Too crazy.
