iM Upcoming Events: Revwerks Track Day April 25th

Peeps, summer is coming and our guys over at Revwerks is holding their first track day on April 25th, which is roughly a month away! For locals – we know that this is quite possibly the last season that Race City will be open to us and unfortunately, the last summer that we can safely run our cars on a dedicated closed circuit. Rhys at Revwerks has been nice enough to set up many lapping days over the summer for everyone to participate and we’ll keep you updated as to when those days are – over on the sidebar at upcoming events, who to contact, and the general low down.

*Those that have not attended a trackday before should not feel uncomfortable attending. Instructors attend these lapping days and are more than happy to give pointers and ride alongs to get you comfortable with the track. This is not a full on race day, so you go at your own pace.

With that said, once again the first one is going to be April 25
You can feel free to contact Rhys by email at rhys@revwerks.com or give him a shout at (403) 681-0244.

Time: 8AM – 4PM

Deposits do need to be put down beforehand to be on the list for these trackdays. You have a few ways of securing your position.
1) Contact Rhys, and send him an email money transfer or meet up.

And a quick laydown of the rules:
*Everyone entering the facility must check in with Rhys to sign the waiver, and pay. (balance by cash please, it’s easy for me to pay the track this way.)
*Safety is the PRIMARY concern at all times during this event. Anyone seen to be unsafe on or off the track will be removed from this event and possibly future events.

|Shop: Garage Box Auto Innovation
|Location: #10 920 28 St. NE Calgary, AB
|Website: www.garageboxauto.com
|Contact: garageboxauto@hotmail.com
|Telephone: (403) 984-2808
|Crew: Paul, Philip

On Sunday, March 20th 2011, the illmotion crew hit up the grand opening of another new shop in Calgary: Garage Box Auto Innovation. Paul Tan, responsible for a lot of awesome work done to a few of Calgary’s sickest whips, is the man in charge of the new shop.

Being that it was officially the first day of Spring (Seriously, it was), there was no better way to kick start the season than to get every one together to congratulate Paul on the opening of his new shop. With good people, good food, awesome beats and raffles with proceeds going towards Japan Tsunami Relief, Garage Box Auto Innovation definitely left a good impression to those in attendance.

Garage Box Auto Innovation specializes in general automotive service/maintenance as well as custom and aftermarket applications on whatever vehicle you have. Should you have any further inquiries do not hesitate to contact Paul Tan.

Congratulations once again going out to Paul on the launch of Garage Box Auto Innovation. You’ll definitely be seeing a few of us from illmotion wanting to get work done on our cars! =)

Our very own Aldrich, hittin’ up the turntables for most of the afternoon.

Paul’s ongoing project Celica

And it looks like even though it’s mid march, we have some homies like Steve rocking his partial summer mode. We were lucky enough to avoid the 15-20cm snowfall warning that was supposed to hit last night. So it’s good to see.

We also have Gangster D rocking his J’s Fit. This, believe it or not is his winter beater. He’s also got a Spoon’d out S2000 for summer time. Spoon calipers for stopping in the snow? Jeez.

Ferrari

Exotica Mania!

Hey guys, Jeff Chin here signing in from Edmonton. It’s been awhile since I posted on here so I don’t expect anyone to remember me but however if you do, please write a comment! 🙂

My absence on here was due to the lack of photoshoots with import cars since this is what iM focus primarily on. I did a couple shoots of imports but we’ll talk about those next time. Meanwhile I’ve been keeping busy with shooting exotics for my buddy David Lee owner of Avant Garde Motorsports

I am very fortunate I get to shoot cars of this caliber; exotic cars really ignite my passion for cars ever since I was a young boy. They stir your soul. Who had a Lamborghini Countach/Diablo or Ferrari F40 poster in their room when they were young? I know I did. Getting up close and personal with them is truly something very special.

Anyways enough with the chit chat and let’s get on to the goods I’ve got here for iM today:

1st off we got a Rosso Vik (Candy apple) color ‘08 Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Roadster. I never liked red Lambo’s until I saw this. Gorgeous.

Back off.

You mess with the bull you get the horns.

Italian Job

Next is a ’07 Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano. The sound of the V12 is just intoxicating, it has the same engine block found on the Enzo Ferrari.

The Beast is asleep.

Little Italy.

Perfectionist.

Respect your elders.

Tastefully Tasteful Taste.

And finally we have the all mighty American supercar, ’06 Ford GT Heritage Edition. What a beautiful piece of machine. This particular car is rolling on aftermarket Dymag rims, the barrel is carbon fiber. Same rims used on the Koenigsegg CCX. Hard to imagine this is a 40ish year old design (1964), sure there are a few new designs in this modern day GT but the shape looks back to the original. Another 40 years and this car will still look amazing. Timeless design will always look timeless.

Gulf spill.

GT Forty.

Multicultural.

Ferrari VS Ford, the rivalry just reignited. Which would it be?
I’d pick the Ford because it is man and machine. We’re all car guys right? Nothing beats a clutch and shifting your own gears even if it is slower then flappy paddles. There’s so much computer in the Ferrari, it almost seems… dare I say, soulless? Don’t get me wrong the Ferrari is a damn amazing machine. But at the end of the day I think the Ford is more beautiful and wins my heart.

The Beauty & The Beast

And that’s it for this post. Figure I make it a big post for my long absence haha.

Till next time,

– Jeff

iM Event Coverage

iM Event Coverage: 2011 Calgary International Car and Truck…

The illmotion crew got the chance to finally head down to the 2011 Calgary International Car and Truck show this weekend to get some coverage of the sickest cars of the year.

With sick cars from left to right and way too many to even begin to get pictures of, we’ll be splitting this up into many parts so that we don’t overwhelm you. Look for my part II and the other guys’ parts this week. Enjoy!

iM: #PrayForJapan

Early Friday Afternoon, small quakes began to disrupt the east coast of Japan. Unfortunately, this was only to be followed by a monstrous 8.9-magnitude earthquake. This however, was not the end. The quake was then followed by an enormous Tsunami taking with it cars, ships, trains and whatever else was in it’s path. Not only did this destroy homes and businesses, but it also took the lives of hundreds of people.

After logging into twitter this morning, the number one trending topic was “#prayforjapan”. After letting that sit for a bit and watching CNN, reading various tweets, and thinking about family and friends currently residing in Japan, the crew here at illmotion thought it would be a great idea to get involved and do something to help those in need.

Fresh off our donation to Pancreatic Cancer Research, illmotion has decided to donate to the Canadian Red Cross, who is currently in Japan doing everything in their power to help those in need.

Starting today, 100% of all decals sold in the Online Store, will also be donated to the Canadian Red Cross.

Whether it be through illmotion or directly to the Canadian Red Cross, act now to help those who are struggling with the aftermath of this disaster.

Our deepest thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by the quake and the tsunami in Japan.
