iM Feature: Rajan’s JDM EG6 done right

How do you make a solid Honda platform look sick, without going over the top and ending up with a huge bowl of rice? Simple: just take a look at Rajan’s homemade recipe.

This unique recipe starts off with a layer of custom gold paint, and a touch of black Honda Black pearl paint on the roof. Next, add a Seibon Carbon hood, Spoon Sports spoiler, SiR front lip, and Password:JDM thin side moldings. Afterward, Raj suggests you delete the front and rear wipers. While your at it, might as well smoke the front, rear and side marker lights, and shave the antenna.

For that special touch, Raj also threw in some Tein Super Street Coilovers, an ITR front and rear sway bar, SPC camber kit, Skunk2 lower control arms, Beaks rear lower tiebar, and a Password:JDM 3 point front strut bar and rear strut bar.

For a full flavor marinade; a 98 Spec Type R transmission, Pssword:JDM carbon intake, Skunk2 intake manifold and fuel rail, Buddy Club racing spec headers, Blox cat delete, Apex’i N1 exhaust, NGK Plugs and a Mizu Aluminum Radiator and slim fan are a must. Raj also says that mixing in a carbon solenoid cover and hood dampers, a set of Spoon Sports rad hoses, a Greddy oil cap, a candy red powder coated ITR valve cover, J’s Racing carbon spark plug cover and Cusco oil catch can can also add some subtle tastes.

Chef’s special suggestion for the health wise? Pealing the A/C out can save on those nasty calories.

After settling, you can spice up the interior with some Bride Digo seats, custom Bride doorcards, armrest and floor mats. A Mugen shift knob, ITR shiftboot and Personal Grinta steering wheel with Works Bell hub and quick release can also add that extra little kick.

You can begin the final preparations with a set of Rotora drilled and slotted rotors and Rotora brake lines, Axxis pads and Project Mu brake fluid. Cover these with a set of 16×7 +45 Buddy Club P1 wheels wrapped in 205/45RZ16’s (Falken FK451 in the back, Toyo T1R Proxies in the front). Last but not least, throw a set of Project Kic’s 10mm spacers on front and you are ready to serve.

For those who wish to enjoy this recipe a little more, it can be found on display at the illmotion booth during Driven Edmonton on Saturday August 7th.

Finally after a long long wait, I was able to get up and do a shoot on my car while it’s still clean and accident-free. It is pretty much done now that I added the front lip so this is how it will sit all summer. I really feel that it has come a long way from previous years and I never thought I’d say it but “I’m done”.
All it really needs now are regular maintenance and squash air fresheners every few months. Hopefully I can pick up a new whip in the next year and start with a fresh new template again.
Thanks to Arif and JC for coming out and helping out with the shoot yesterday. Turned out pretty good. I think it really captured all of the angles nicely.

I was itching to shoot something this evening and I didn’t know where to go or which car to shoot either. I called up JC and asked him and next thing you know, we’re out cruising around ready to shoot Aldrich’s WRX. We haven’t officially shot it before but here it is in all its glory.

iM Feature: Struck by lighting! Porsche GT3!

Here’s a car that doesn’t need no introduction.

But just in case you don’t know, this is the brand new Porsche 997.2 GT3 RS that me and Raymond recently did a shoot of.

Even though I didn’t drive it, I did ride shotty in it. The beauty of this GT3 RS is how alive it makes you feel, even just prowling around the city streets. This is a pin-sharp car, but there’s comfort now, a new respect for your fillings and spine. Don’t for a moment think the RS can’t be driven every day, just takes more nerves and energy then your usual car.

There are lots of fast cars out there, lots of stripped-back racers. But what Porsche have managed to do is save weight, still keep a smattering of luxury and make people feel like driving gods. It might be an expensive way to feel like you’re The Stig… but it’s [flick hair] so worth it.

After the ride/photoshoot of this GT3 RS, it really made me think the regular GT3 looks tame compared to this.

Raymond will have his Part 2 pics up shortly

Till next time,
Jeff 🙂

iM Feature: The Silver Surfer

I spent Friday evening with Raymond shooting my buddy Verlens AP2 S2K. This is a prime example that makes me want to own one myself sometime in the near future as well. To the sleak timeless desgin to the high revving engine this is one of Honda’s great creations that will be remembered..

Unfortunatly we only had time for 1 location but I think I got some good shots in haha…

Ray will post part 2 with his pics.

Till next time

iM Feature: The Red Bastard Evo VIII

Another great submission by 780 photographer, Jeff Chin. Check it outttt

Chevy versus Ford? Unless you drive a NASCAR, that battle hardly seems worth watching. When the Evo 8 1st arrived in North America it was a direct player against Subaru’s 300-horse WRX Sti. Both great cars, but the conclusion is if you must have power the the STi is your car, if you want understated precision yet devastating power when you need it the Evo is your car. At the end of the day I’d say if you like Subaru you wouldn’t go for a Evo even if its a “better” car (Notice I use the term better loosely. Just trying to prove me point haha). Its like telling a Mustang guy to buy a Camaro. Not gonna happen.

Anyways a little back story of this car,
This past weekend I got the chance to photograph my buddy Mark’s 03 Mitsubishi Evo 8. It was imported from Michigan not too long ago. When he bought it, it was completely stock, since then over the winter he has done a fair bit of mods to it.
But due to a lost of job he is forced to put the car up for sale, as he has only driven this for a couple of months. Sad but I guess priorities always comes 1st.

iM Feature: Benny’s Toyota AE86 Pt. 2

Here it is, part 2 of something that definitely needs 2 parts or maybe even more to show the true quality of the build. You have to see this car in person to appreciate the details and customization put into it.

Until that day, these pictures will have to keep you satisfied…

…ohh and a short clip of this beast in action too! (The sound it makes is so amazing, sorry about the wind noise!)

iM Feature: Benny’s Toyota AE86 Pt. 1

Well, here it is.. Our first official shoot of the season and I think it’s a great way to kick off the summer and the preview of things to come this summer. When this car was completed last year and it came to the beyond meet for one of the first times and Benny and Mike popped the hood, I knew I wanted to shoot it. Turns out illmotion got one of the first cracks at it and it turned out sick. I can’t even begin to describe the craziness of this car and the attention to detail that has gone into it.

From the F20 swap to the S2k cluster to the interior and exterior, this car has become complete perfection. There are boundaries that many people stop at to reach their ideal goal and image in a car – which is perfectly fine. It’s when guys like Benny don’t settle for those boundaries and they achieve something that just pushes the bar higher for the rest of us.

I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the talking. Just remember where you saw it first 😀

Notice Benny’s 350Z on Volk LE37’s in the back. We wanted to get his other whip in there as well.

Orido wheel.. wait what’s back there…?

S2k clusterrrrrr

mmm.. dish

There it is.

iM Feature: Greg’s R32 Skyline

Our buddy Jeff Chin from the 780 sent me a sick write up for a local Skyline the other day. I’ve been pretty busy trying to get around everything but here it is! Enjoy, and look forward to more from Jeff and the crew down in Edmonton.

The R32 Skyline GTR was introduced to the Japanese market in 1989, and was hailed as one of the greatest Japanese cars ever produced.
In July 06, Greg flew to Japan to find the love of his life that he had dreamt of owning since 14. That particular car was the Nissan GTR nicknamed Godzilla. When he found it, it was mostly stock with a boost controller, intakes, exhaust, coilovers and rocking some Enkei RP01’s.  By the time he got it home in September of that year he already had parts waiting to start modding it.
I myself have always been a sucker for a properly done cars and this is no execption. I’ll let the pics do the talking.
