iM Feature: Corey’s Civic Coupe

The Civic is entering it’s 4th year and I decided to change a few things up this year. Last year was all about getting the interior all done, with custom upholstered rear seats and door panels to match the Bride front seats.

This year I had to go back to the exterior. I wanted a new set of wheels and was really unsure what to order over winter because I really liked my RE30’s. Then a set of Meisters became available and I couldn’t pass them up. So now she’s sitting a little wider on a beautiful set of Meister S1’s. I also continued my trend of going slightly lower each year and I believe she’s finally sitting where I want.

iM Feature: Adnan’s CCW Swag

I’ve known Adnan for a few years now and I got to know him better when he picked up his FG – it was around the same time I was doing up my Civic. Over the years, all of us sort of building up our cars similarly but uniquely at the same time. The need to always be different helps push you to build your car better, use legit parts, and set the bar higher for yourself. I think it’s things like that this scene needs – setting the bar higher for yourself and not for the people around you. If you do what you want with the right direction, regardless of what people tell you, there’s a good chance you’ll end up with a car similar to Adnans…

iM Feature: Dicken’s Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X

With Summer quickly on the come up, a lot more people are unleashing their project cars out of hibernation with new mods and parts that are dramatically enhancing the appearance and performance of their vehicle, and setting new standards on how a car should be built.

With this generation of Stance and Form pretty much flooding the car scene, there’s gotta be more than just “dumping” your car and getting a set of wide wheels to demand everyone’s attention and respect. In the pursuit of both form and function, enter Dicken’s Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X.

Everything done so far to this Evo X has been well thought out via Dicken’s vision of how an Evo X should look and perform. With CF aero pieces from Seibon & Rexspeed, a Voltex 1700mm Type 5 GT Wing, a stripped interior justified with an Autopower roll bar, minor engine and exhaust modifications to enhance the Evo’s already impressive performance, and a functional suspension set up that keeps this Evo glued to the road, there’s just no denying this Evo X’s potential on the track.

What stands out the most on Dicken’s Evo X is without a doubt his “Luminous Yellow” Rays Gramlight 57D wheels. With such an eye catching choice in wheels and a complete track ready package to back up it’s looks, this is one Evo X that deserves every ounce of attention it receives from any onlookers.

iM Feature: Steve Chan’s Acura RSX

The key idea we live by here at illmotion is “Made You Look”. It’s that “turning heads” mentality that can make certain cars here in Calgary just stand out from the rest. Regardless of what the owner decides to put on his/her car, if it’s grabbed your attention, then that signature illmotion “Made You Look” swag has been achieved. Steve Chan’s RSX is a true testament to our slogan.

With a complete Mugen-style kit, an aggressive stance and a stunning set of Magnesium Blue Volk TE-37s, ignoring this whip is simply impossible. The attention to detail in the interior (JDM ITR Door Sills) and engine bay will also have you looking twice.

Aside from snapping necks when cruising the city streets, Steve’s RSX can be found in it’s true form when he’s tearing it up at the track. With an awesome suspension/wheel set up and a roaring Buddy Club Spec 2 exhaust there’s no denying this car’s capabilities on the road course.

With Steve executing our “Made You Look” lifestyle to the fullest and always keeping his car refreshed every season, there’s no doubt in my mind that you’ll see more of this car in the future.

iM Feature: Brad Atkins 2000 Civic SiR

Some of y’all may remember Brad’s EM1 that we took random snaps of last year. This year he’s got a few new modifications with boost and his Type-R 5 lug conversion being the most notable.

With the summer quickly on the come up it’s not long til we see Brad rip his SiR around the track. Ideally built with function in mind and JDM goodness to boot don’t be surprised if you see this EM1 lappin’ on everybody at Race City this year, and snappin’ necks when spotted on Calgary’s streets.

Brad perfectly describes his SiR when he says ‘This car is used and abused. If you can’t beat the shit out of it then what’s the point? You won’t find none of that p*ssy show car BS here’.

Haters take note.

iM Feature: Ricky’s CCW’d GTI MKV

Ricky’s Volkswagen has really been a long time coming for those who knew when he got the car. The day he picked it up, he had an idea and that idea became another idea and eventually became a plan. Once that had all started, it all started coming together.

Volkswagen’s are known to be dumped, fitted and look damn good doing it. Ricky’s GTI is no different. There are usually two routes that VW owners go – static drop on coils or dropped on bags. Ricky took the static route and went on doing his research. What coils to get, what size wheels and tires… and while it all seems overly simple, when you get down to the nitty gritty, if you get it wrong, you got a pretty shitty outcome. Offset is off by 5mm making it either hard to fit or not satisfying. Coilovers don’t go low enough, so now what? The difference here is that Ricky paid attention to all the little details that (when you think about it) paint a really big picture.

Since mid summer of 2010, he has been gathering parts here and there and over the winter, they’ve been sitting in a corner gathering dust, begging to be put on. The amount of patience it takes to say “no” and having to look at them everyday is mind boggling. Most of us know this.

It started off going from little things like LED’s and maybe an air freshener here and some nice floor mats there. Eventually you get bored of wasting your money on the little things and you need to find some way to get your car noticed. This is the result of that.

iM: The Re-Up 2010 (Part 8)

Our final chapter in the 2010 Re-up. Hope you all enjoyed!
I want to take the time to thank everyone for the support that we’ve had over the past 9 months that allowed us as a group to become what we are today. We never really thought it’d be something like this and now that it’s only going up from here, we just want to share our appreciation. We have a bunch of new stuff in store for 2011 and a surprise should be up in store in the new few weeks!

Over the past 9 months we have been able to raise tons of charity money with the help of you guys to donate to The Alberta Children’s Hospital, MADD Canada, and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. This year, we’re looking once again to raise more money to donate to more foundations. We look forward to having you guys support us supporting others!

With that said, 2011 is finally here and we’re looking forward to having even more turn outs and cars to feature and show you guys. Those of you that were with us since the beginning also knew about our turnout at Driven 2010. We hope that some of you that might be fresh to the game or are ready to show, come out and show with us for 2011! Let’s finish this off.

|Owner: Jackson Chen
|Vehicle: Honda S2000

Jackson’s ASM Honda s2000 is no joke. With ITB’s, ASM kit and J’s racing accessories, it’s both track and street ready. This Honda s2000 is nothing but perfection. Attention to detail goes a long way!

iM Feature: Jackson Chen’s Honda S2000

|Owner: Jackie Law
|Vehicle: Honda S2000

Most of you already probably knew this was coming. Jackie’s internet sensation s2000 has been seen pretty much everywhere. He’s been pushing the limits of the stock body with aggressive fitment, slammed stance and pushing it at the track. I think that’s all that needs to be said about Jackie’s s2000. Check it out.

iM Feature: JKL’s Internet Sensation S2K

|Owner: Alex Markovic
|Vehicle: Acura Integra

Another player in the game is Alex Markovic. His Integra is rarely driven and pretty much everything in this whip is fresh and mint. When you get down to it, every little piece from the paint to the bolt is changed. Nothing is left unnoticed which is what makes Alex’s Integra different from the rest.

iM Feature: Alex’s Turbo Integra

|Owner: Reggie Mah
|Vehicle: Acura Integra

Reggie’s Integra was built in less than a year and extremely quick to get it to how you see it today. With a top one diffuser, status seats, topped out with a mugen style wing and an aggressive stance, Reggie’s Integra had become quite a head turner.

iM Feature: Reggie Mah’s 1998 Acura Integra GS

|Event: Driven 2010

To end it off, we’re gonna show you Driven 2010. This was one of the biggest turnouts for illmotion at the annual car show. We did our first fundraising event for The Alberta Children’s Hospital and we also had the largest turnout in Driven history. We will be back for 2011, hopefully with even more new cars and fresher builds.

Driven 2010

iM: The Re-Up 2010 (Part 7)

Gonna keep it goin’ now with Part 7 of our iM: The Re-Up 2010 which recaps vehicles we’ve highlighted and featured here on illmotion since we started back in March. Let’s go!

|Owner: Ryan Dandurand
|Vehicle: Toyota MR2

This MR2 has been a build of Ryan’s for quite some time and the results just leave any onlooker in shock and awe. Ryan’s ambition and hard work on his Mid-Ship Runner most definitely deserves every ounce of attention it receives.

iM Feature: Ryan Dandurand’s Toyota MR2

|Owner: Jason Divina
|Vehicle: Mitsubishi Evolution X

Not a stranger to the Calgary car scene, Jason’s had a wide variety of sick whips ranging from a unique Cavalier to a couple of S2000s, a WRX, and a turbo FD2. His latest project, an EVO X, is already in the right direction to becoming another one of his dope builds.

iM Highlight: Jason Divina’s Evo X

|Owner: Nick Chow
|Vehicle: Honda S2000

A young veteran in the Honda tuning game, was there any doubt in anyone’s minds that Nick Chow’s S2K wasn’t gonna be fresh to death? With inspiration from the J’s Racing JGTC S2K, it’s no wonder “CHOWFUN’s” build is the definition of stuntin’. NIIICE!

iM Feature: Nick Chow’s Honda S2000

|Owner: Romel Tenchavez
|Vehicle: 1977 Toyota Celica GT aka “Blue Thunder”

We previously hit you with the Re-Up of Romel Tenchavez’s 1985 Toyota Corolla GT-S Turbo and up next we have his 18 year build, a 1977 Toyota Celica GT Turbo (Fuel Injected). This car’s ‘been there and done that’ when it comes to our scene’s trends and fads. One thing remains the same though, it will forever be a timeless classic.

iM Feature: Romel Tenchavez’s 1977 Toyota Celica GT

|Owner: Jason Hoang
|Vehicle: Honda Civic FG

illmotion’s very own Jason Hoang had all 8th Gen Civic owners in a head lock when he unleashed his FG’s set up this year. Sporting a J’s Racing wing, nicely fitted Work Meisters and a Spoon diffuser, whether you loved it or hated it, mission accomplished: Jason without a doubt ‘Made You Look’.

\\\\\\ iM x MADD @ Quarry Park //////

On Sunday, September 12 2010, illmotion had the pleasure of attending a “Park & Polish” fundraiser held by MADD Canada. The thing I love the most about illmotion and those of you who support us is the dedication we have when it comes to fundraisers and giving back to the community.

Being that this was pretty much the event to end Calgary’s car season, all the homies got together, came out to flash the whips and at the same time, support MADD Canada. Thanks again to all that came out that day whether it was showing off your ride or just supporting the cause.

illmotion x MADD @ Quarry Park (Part 1)

illmotion x MADD @ Quarry Park (Part 2)

illmotion x MADD @ Quarry Park (Part 3)

Well, this concludes my part for iM: The Re-Up 2010. Stay tuned for Part 8 by Jason, which is the final chapter in our ‘trip down memory lane’ of illmotion during the 2010 season.

I just want to take this opportunity to thank you all once again for making this a great year for illmotion! Big things are definitely on the come up for 2011!

Cheers fam!

iM: The Re-Up 2010 (Part 6)

PAAAAAAARRTTT 6!!!!

|Owner: Benny Tse
|Vehicle: Toyota Corolla AE86 F20 Powered

One of our most anticipated shoots of 2010. Benny’s F20 powered AE86 is a sight to be seen. Super mint with a super fresh paint job. Under the hood is a fresh F20 powerplant with an equally clean interior. Benny doesn’t joke around!

iM Feature: Benny’s Toyota AE86

|Owner: Chris
|Vehicle: TR7

Chris’s TR7 was a nice change to our array of features. We first saw this car when he joined us at Driven 2010 and surprised a lot of people by bringing in something truly different to the game. Check out why!

iM Feature: Chris’s TR7

|Owner: Greg
|Vehicle: Nissan Skyline R32

Another great Skyline joined us for 2010 and we’re glad to see Greg and his whip around. The great thing about it is that Greg really changed his skyline in such a modest way.

iM Feature: Greg’s R32 Skyline

|Owner: Rajan
|Vehicle: Honda EG6

Rajan’s JDM EG6 is one of the very few nicely done up JDM civic’s that we have been given the privilege to feature and show you guys. We here at illmotion love clean and Rajan doesn’t disappoint.

iM Feature: Rajan’s JDM EG6

iM: The Re-Up 2010 (Part 5)

Part 5 for your pleasure!

|Owner: Justin Kan
|Vehicle: Honda Civic EG

Justin’s first feature before his ITR was his slammed EG hatch. Not hellaflush, but hella slammed. It’s awesome to see someone still going with the oldschool trend and not working too hard with offset. THe best thing is, when you see it, you can still appreciate the work put into it cause it’s so dope.

iM Feature: Justin’s Slammed EG Hatch

|Owner: Verlen
|Vehicle: Honda S2000 AP2

Simple yet effective build of an s2000. Sometimes less is more and this is where it is displayed. Verlen’s S2000 is easy on the eyes, yet still aggressive enough to turn some heads. Check it!

iM Feature: Something about a Silver Surfer

|Owner: Christophere Skordass
|Vehicle: Porsche GT3

One of our first euro features that we have had comes from Edmonton Alberta. The Porsche GT3. It was nice to see the euro guys coming out and allowing us to have them up on our site. Peep the powerhouse!

iM Feature: Porsche GT3

|Owner: Steve
|Vehicle: Nissan GT-R R32

Steve’s R32 skyline was again, one of our first features. To make things better, his R32 is 1 out of 560 Nismo-built GT-R’s. Steve’s car still even rocks original gunmetal paint that was exclusive to Nismo editions. RHD, big turbo, 18×10 +20? Yes, please.

iM Feature: Something about GODZILLA and his R32 Bastard Child

|Owner: Mike Morris
|Vehicle: Volkswagen GTI

Mike had been one of our photographers and had the opportunity to pick up this GTI to begin his own passion. Once again, Mike has decided to stay clean and fresh with his GTI and that is something we can all appreciate!

iM Feature: Dub Rat

|Owner: Matt
|Vehicle: Honda S2000

Finally, Matt’s Honda S2000 is another example of a clean ride with just enough jazz to make it different. The Shine diffuser is a nice finishing touch for the rear end and the stance overall makes it pop. It doesn’t take much to make an S2000 stand out and Matt shows us why.

iM Feature: Matt’s Honda S2000
