iM: The Re-Up 2013 (Part 6) | Sunday School…

Wrapping up our 2013 Re-Up Series with the hottest (literally) show of the year, the illmotion Sunday School Show & Shine. This show gets bigger and bigger every year and none of this would be possible without the support of local tuning shops in Calgary and the support we get from all of you! This was without a doubt one of the most memorable Sunday Schools we’ve hosted as we raised an amazing $3000.00 in support of the Lupus Society of Alberta, in loving memory of Lanein Reynoso; one of our largest donations thus far! Definitely stay tuned this year for a finalized date for Sunday School 2014. In the mean time, let’s have one last look at Sunday School 2013! Starting off with the video made by illmotion’s own Corey O’Hara followed by our 4 part coverage of the show. Let’s get right to it…

And just like that, our third installment of our Sunday School Show & Shine series is over.

But before we begin with coverage from this year’s Sunday School Show & Shine we would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our sponsors who made this year so successful. First off we’d like to thank Beyond.Ca, Poorform, Tunerworks, Car2Go, Autotech Performance and Security, Zero Limit Automotive, Autodream, Canada Motorcyle, Calgary Auto Spa, Concept-1, Compact Tuning Lab, Stampede Toyota/Scion, South Point Toyota/Scion, Charlesglen Toyota/Scion, 1st Gear Auto, SpeedOptions, Top Speed Auto, Lithium Autosport, Matrix Motorsports, Country Hills Toyota/Scion, Drive Clean Calgary, Fineline Customworks, Icon Tinting & Graphics and last but not least Vex Performance for sponsoring this year’s Sunday School Show & Shine. With the support of all the local shops in and around Calgary you guys are the reason Sunday School gets better and better every year.

Next, we’d like to thank all those who came out to help during set up and those who were out to assist us during the entire show. A big thank you and shouts out going out to Ryan M., Gopesh, Steve, Justin, Alex and Adrian during set up/roll-in, our friends from Poorform for hooking up the DJ/Audio Equipment, illmotion’s own Aldrich Evangelista & Poorform’s Jimmy Bailey for providing the tunes, and Waffles and Chix for coming out and providing food & drinks. We also gotta give a HUGE thanks and mad love to Carla and Barb for manning the illmotion booth for the entire day alongside Punit and JC. We owe you guys big time for all your help!!!

Finally, we would like to thank all of you. Because without you guys coming out and supporting us whether you registered your car for Sunday School, came out to check out the show, donate to the Lupus Society of Alberta (in loving memory of Lanein Reynoso and those we’ve lost from Lupus), or picked up some illmotion merchandise, without this support from any of you guys, Sunday School would not be as successful as it has been since 2010.

In regards to this year’s Sunday School Show & Shine, the combination of super hot weather (3rd year in a row), good beats, good cars, and amazing people coming together for a good cause definitely made this THE show that everyone will be talking about for a while. This year’s show was without a doubt the busiest one out of the three shows we’ve put on and we can’t help but applaud the Calgary car scene and the caliber of the cars that are coming out to make Sunday School better and better every year. Quality is definitely starting to make more of an impact at these type of events and it was certainly evident at this year’s show and shine. With that said, there’s no denying the stress and difficulty our judges had choosing their Top 15 cars for Sunday School 2013 but we would like to congratulate those who were awarded! The Top 15 “Honour Roll” list is as follows…

illmotion’s Sunday School Show & Shine 2013 “Honour Roll” list (in no particular order):

iM: The Re-Up 2013 (Part 5) | DRIVEN 2013

In Part 5 of our Re-Up 2013 Series we would like to bring back Driven 2013. In 2013, we did a 5-part feature so let’s have a look at parts 1-5, and the video made by none other than illmotion’s own Corey O’Hara! Let’s take a trip back to Driven 2013! Instead of saving the video for last like we usually do, we’ll start this Driven 2013 Re-Up off with the video!

To “officially” kick start the 2013 season, Driven made it’s way to the Olympic Oval in Calgary. A little earlier than the previous year, this certainly did not stop everybody from getting their cars ready, some even just MINUTES before the end of roll-in and set up. With over 250 cars coming together under one roof, Driven continues to get better every year as owners/enthusiasts just know that it is the perfect opportunity to showcase what he/she has been hiding over the course of the winter. With that, the quality factor continues to improve as well as participants step it up and come correct every year.

Congratulations to all those who were awarded this year including Devon Mori (RHD EG6), Noel Eggers (S14), Randy Chau (Honda S600), Duncan Yu (Sleeper Civic), Philip Tan (AE86), Derrek Poyntz (Best Engine Dress Up – Integra) and Tommy Daraseng (E92 M3) who represented with illmotion.

We here at illmotion would also like to take this time to thank the beautiful Melyssa Grace for kicking it with us. It was definitely an honor to have you in our booth and we really hope you enjoyed the show as much we did!

Also a big shout out to our own Aldrich Evangelista for providing the beats and DJing for almost 8 hours straight! Amazing work Rich!

Finally, we would like to thank all of you because in all actuality, there would be no “Driven” without the support of you guys as we encourage each other, and practically push each other to get our cars ready to roll for shows like this. Thank you guys for making Driven 2013 a success yet again for our scene! It was definitely awesome seeing some familiar faces and meeting new ones, which is exactly what it’s all about; and what a perfect way to re-introduce the season we call Summer!

Moving on, we do have intense coverage of Driven which will be separated into parts over the next few days, so let’s kick things off with Part 1 of our iM Event Coverage: Driven 2013 Calgary…

Enjoy!

Gonna keep things moving with Part 2 of our iM Event Coverage for Driven 2013. We’re not even halfway there with the pictures taken from this day so be sure to stay tuned for much more during the week! With over hundreds in attendance it was definitely quite the task to be able to get coverage of everything so major props to our photographers Corey & Prashant for taking as many photos as they did. Anyways, we hope you enjoy more from Driven! Here’s Part 2…

Another round of pictures of our Driven 2013 coverage. More pics and a video will be coming. But for now here is part 3….

To add to our coverage of Driven 2013, here are some photos from a little earlier. The day of the show we arrived well before the starting time of 1, as there was still much to do. After making sure the cars were ready I then wandered the floor and took some pictures before the crowds started coming in. The lighting wasn’t the best at this time but I had a great chance to see what was present and not have to worry about shots being blocked.

The car under wraps above is the Maserati from ZR, as seen in Part Three. It was kept a secret until 3PM when the cover was pulled off.

With Driven 2013 now over a week behind us, we may look at some of the finer details of what was brought out and wrap up our coverage of the event. To view pictures that weren’t included in Parts 1, 2, 3, & 4 visit out Flickr page HERE.

By looking at the finer details we are able to see the good that all our supporters help us achieve at every event. This year, just as the previous two, we supported the Alberta Childrens Hospital Foundation. All proceeds from the sale of our merchandise, which totaled just under $1000.00, will be donated to the foundation. A huge thank-you goes out to all those who support us through donations and purchases of merchandise. We look forward to the next event where we can see our supporters and once again help the community!

If you would like to donate directly to the Alberta Childrens Hospital Foundation please click HERE

Once again a huge thank-you goes out to each and every one of you for your support over the years! We look forward to seeing you all at the Sunday School Show & Shine on August 18th (More details to come) where we will be supporting another great charity and having a ton of fun!

/// Stay tuned as we wrap our Re-Up 2013 Series with Part 6: Sunday School 2013.

iM: The Re-Up 2013 (Part 4)

Gonna wrap things up in the features/highlights side of things as we roll ahead with Part 4 of 2013 Re-Up series! Definitely stay tuned for Part 5 & 6 as we take a look back at Driven 2013 and Sunday School 2013! Let’s get right to it…

There’s no denying the fact that the FR-S has definitely made it’s imprint on the automotive scene this past year but it’s awesome to see the new school “86” owners linking up with the old school “86” owners like we have here featuring Beniot’s FR-S and Spencer’s AE86. Peep the old school and new school love.

iM Feature: Beniot’s Scion FR-S & Spencer’s Toyota AE86

When the Honda Fit is brought up amongst car enthusiasts, one thing comes to mind: ‘it’s a daily driver’. Be that as it may, the Honda Fit as many of us may not know has a very strong tuning culture in Japan. A look at Gangster D’s daily driven Honda Fit and one will you can get a pretty good idea of what can be done to Honda’s beloved subcompact car.

iM Feature: Daniel’s 2007 Honda Fit

An S14 with a 1JZ power plant?! For Noel, this build in the works is definitely worth it…and we can’t wait to see what Noel has up his sleeve for this coming season!

iM Highlight: Noel’s S14 Nissan 240SX

Undeniably a big part of car history, the Shelby Mustang lives on in today’s car society and it’s owners like Rob who don’t let anyone forget about Ford’s prized pony.

iM Highlight: Rob’s 2007 Ford Shelby GT500

illmotion’s videographer Corey O’Hara, hits us with another one of his masterpieces this time showcasing Terry’s immaculate 1998 Acura Integra Type-R. We definitely can’t wait to see more videos like this from Corey this year!

iM Film: Terry’s 1998 Acura Integra Type-R

Wrapping up 2013 was an update on Ricky’s Volkswagen GTI. With that perfect fusion of Japanese and German performance Ricky definitely goes the distance to making his GTI stand out from typical European fashion.

iM Update: Ricky Luu’s Volkswagen GTI

iM: The Re-Up 2013 (Part 3)

Moving along with Part 3 of our Re-Up 2013 series highlighting a car from Edmonton and the rest coming out of Toronto courtesy of our illmotion East/Level One representative and photographer Galen Wan aka GAWA, and photographer Alex Lu. Let’s take a look at part 3!

Something we definitely look for when it comes to the cars we showcase here on illmotion is the originality and uniqueness of the platform that the owner decides to build upon. A good example of keeping things different yet still turning heads is Jules and her Ford Focus ZX5.

iM Highlight: Jules Cragg’s Ford Focus ZX5

Coming out of the Level One crew is DC and his MK6 VW GTI. Equipped with air suspension and sitting on all time classic BBS LM wheels, DC’s GTI is on route to becoming another one of those proper VW builds.

iM Highlight: DC’s MK6 Volkswagen GTI

Without a doubt one of the most popular features to come from Galen in the year 2013 is Next Mod owner Peter and his HKS GT800 Nissan GT-R. Equipped with a plethora of JDM goodness, it’s only right Next Mod’s head honcho comes correct with a build of this caliber.

iM Feature: Peter’s HKS GT800 Nissan GT-R

Another popular feature from Galen this past year was Jacky’s 2006 Honda S2000. What started out as a dream eventually became a reality for Jacky and it sits in the form of the S2000 you see here:

iM Feature: Jacky’s 2006 Honda S2000

Wrapping up part 3 of our Re-Up 2013 series is fellow Level One homie Danio and his latest build. Departing from his infamous S2000, Dan keeps it in the Honda family and it looks like he’s on the right track to building yet another infamous build with this NA1 NSX.

iM Highlight: Danio’s NSX

iM: The Re-Up 2013 (Part 2)

Going to keep things rolling with Part 2 of our Re-Up 2013 series…

Without a doubt one of the most influential features we’ve done here on illmotion come from the crew over at PoorForm. To back up that last sentence two members from illmotion even went as far as switching up their projects and going in the direction of VIP/Lexus modding. Definitely stay tuned for more from PoorForm later on this year!

iM Highlight: Poorform Lexus LSs

Another first on illmotion comes from Devon Mori and a dual feature of his Honda Civic EG6 and Honda CBR600RR. With both of Devon’s means of transportation painted the same color, seeing both his car and bike in motion for the rolling shot was definitely an awesome moment!

iM Feature: Devon Mori’s 1992 Honda Civic EG6 & 2006 Honda CBR600RR

illmotion’s own Prashant Topiwala surprised most of us this year when he sold this car, a 2010 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. While most of us can’t wait to see what Prashant has in store for next season, we’re pretty sure Prashant will regret getting rid of this once he looks at pictures from this feature again. Let’s take a moment to remember Prashant’s C63 AMG, shall we?

iM Highlight: Prashant Topiwala’s 2010 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG

One of the very first “official” shoots of the season was Andy’s Mint Green Nissan Skyline GT-R R32. We had the pleasure of being able to shoot this car earlier on in the year as this car went on to become one of the biggest internet sensations of 2013. Doing his own thing and not paying attention to the negativity of others definitely got everyone talking about Andy and his GT-R.

iM Feature: Andy’s Nissan Skyline GT-R R32

Photographer Taylor Smith blessed us once again last year with another clean Euro in the form of Lani’s MK4 Jetta VR6. Rocking the super rare original Votex kit from Volkswagen and sitting on BBS CH Wheels, let’s revisit Lani’s immaculate MK4 Jetta.

iM Highlight: Lani’s MK4 Jetta VR6

iM: The Re-Up 2013 (Part 1)

Another year has passed, and after some good time off from the Christmas holidays, it is that time of the year once again. Over the next few days we will be taking a look back at the year that was 2013 with our annual Re-Up series! Before we begin however, we can’t help but once again thank you guys for the continuous support that you guys have given us since we started way back in March 2010!!! We hope you all enjoyed the holidays and we wish you all a very prosperous 2014! Let’s kick things off with Part 1 of the Re-Up 2013…

We started the year 2013 off with Kevin Wong’s 2008 Acura CSX out of Edmonton, Alberta. Certainly not a stranger to all things “JDM” Kevin pulled out all the right stops when it came to turning this CSX to it’s Japanese counterpart, a Honda Civic Type-R, supercharged and fitted with a Mugen Aero Kit!

iM Feature: Kevin Wong’s 2008 Acura CSX Type-S

Another highlight coming out of Edmonton, Alberta courtesy of Richard Kratz is Brad Kutz’s 2003 Nissan 350Z. Clean, simple and effective were definitely the key elements for Brad to present his 350Z the way you see it here.

iM Highlight: Brad Kutz’s 2003 Nissan 350Z

Undeniably one of the cleanest TSXs to ever come out of Calgary was Sasa’s 2004 Acura TSX. What definitely made Sasa’s TSX stand out from the rest was his impeccable attention to detail and its rare Indigo Blue original paint.

iM Feature: Sasa Karna’s 2004 Acura TSX

Coming out of the west coast courtesy of Taylor Smith is Josh’s Honda S2000. An unfortunate vandalism certainly did not stop Josh from continuing to pursue the S2000 that he envisioned, and from the looks of it there is no signs of him giving up either. Kudos, Josh!

iM Highlight: Josh’s Honda S2000

Without a doubt one of the more unique builds we’ve featured here on illmotion is Dale’s 1972 Volkswagen Super Beetle! Inspired by the classic series, The Love Bug, Dale’s rendition of “Herbie” is something you definitely want to check out if you missed it last year!

iM Feature: Dale Sevcik’s 1972 VW Super Beetle
