iM: The Re-Up 2013 (Part 1)

Another year has passed, and after some good time off from the Christmas holidays, it is that time of the year once again. Over the next few days we will be taking a look back at the year that was 2013 with our annual Re-Up series! Before we begin however, we can’t help but once again thank you guys for the continuous support that you guys have given us since we started way back in March 2010!!! We hope you all enjoyed the holidays and we wish you all a very prosperous 2014! Let’s kick things off with Part 1 of the Re-Up 2013…

We started the year 2013 off with Kevin Wong’s 2008 Acura CSX out of Edmonton, Alberta. Certainly not a stranger to all things “JDM” Kevin pulled out all the right stops when it came to turning this CSX to it’s Japanese counterpart, a Honda Civic Type-R, supercharged and fitted with a Mugen Aero Kit!

iM Feature: Kevin Wong’s 2008 Acura CSX Type-S

Another highlight coming out of Edmonton, Alberta courtesy of Richard Kratz is Brad Kutz’s 2003 Nissan 350Z. Clean, simple and effective were definitely the key elements for Brad to present his 350Z the way you see it here.

iM Highlight: Brad Kutz’s 2003 Nissan 350Z

Undeniably one of the cleanest TSXs to ever come out of Calgary was Sasa’s 2004 Acura TSX. What definitely made Sasa’s TSX stand out from the rest was his impeccable attention to detail and its rare Indigo Blue original paint.

Coming out of the west coast courtesy of Taylor Smith is Josh’s Honda S2000. An unfortunate vandalism certainly did not stop Josh from continuing to pursue the S2000 that he envisioned, and from the looks of it there is no signs of him giving up either. Kudos, Josh!

Without a doubt one of the more unique builds we’ve featured here on illmotion is Dale’s 1972 Volkswagen Super Beetle! Inspired by the classic series, The Love Bug, Dale’s rendition of “Herbie” is something you definitely want to check out if you missed it last year!

iM Feature: Daniel’s 2007 Honda Fit

“The daily driver.”

For many, the definition of a “Daily Driver” is simply a reliable car that will get one from point ‘A’ to point ‘B’ on a day to day basis without any troubles whatsoever. Usually fuel efficient and super practical, the appearance of a “daily driver” for most is often neglected, and is almost always in the form of a subcompact or compact car. For those who are affected by the mod bug however, it is definitely a safe bet that almost anything you can get your hands on will not go untouched. For Daniel (aka Gangster D) and his 2007 Honda Fit Sport, forget everything you know about your typical “Daily Driver” and prepare to rethink how one can get from point ‘A’ to point ‘B’. For those who have followed illmotion, you already know that this certainly is not the first modded Honda Fit that you’ve seen, as you are probably fully aware of the heavy aftermarket support that Japan has for Honda’s vehicle of the subcompact class.

Featuring a complete authentic JDM Honda Fit 1.5S front and rear end conversion and more original goods from Japan such as the front fenders, power folding mirrors, 1.5S Taillights with the 3rd brake lamp, JDM Honda Window Visors, fitted and mated with a Mugen Tailgate Garish, a Noblesse Rear Diffuser, Front Lip Spoiler, Type-S Front Grille, 3D GT Type-1 Wing and Type-V Hood from J’s Racing, the exterior of Daniel’s Honda Fit comes off more aggressive and more-so track ready than your typical Honda Fit. Might we reiterate that this is his daily street driven car? We just can’t stress that enough. It’s just amazing!

Daniel’s heavy arsenal of parts continues in the Suspension and Brakes department as he looks to such brands as J’s Racing, Type-One Racing, and Spoon to keep his Honda Fit married to the cement and stopping on a dime when he needs it to. A highly noticeable, yet attractive feature that Daniel has implemented to compliment the suspension and brake modifications are the Advanti MI539 wheels that are dipped yellow and blue, respectively on each side of the vehicle; reminiscent of the Spoon Sports colors.

null

To give his Honda Fit a little more of a kick, Daniel’s Fit sports a J’s Racing Carbon Tsuchinoko Chamber Kit and a J’s Racing GD3 304R SUS Rear Tail Exhaust. An AJ-Racing Custom Throttle Body has also been implemented into Daniel’s Fit since after all, daily driving does consist of passing other cars on the fly (if need be, of course).

Meticulous attention to detail is an understatement when it comes to Daniel’s Honda Fit as the interior underwent a complete “JDM” make over. Some key features inside Daniel’s Fit are the JDM GD3 Roof Console, Interior Chrome Door Handle Set, Sun Vizors, Hazard Switch, Door Sills, Front Coin Tray, Map lights going all the way down to the Foot Well Lights. A Mugen S1 full bucket seat, manual transmission pedal set, and door lock pin set can also be found in the interior of Gangster D’s Fit. Who said you can’t have a spirited drive on the daily commute anyway?

With a hefty list of modifications found on Daniel’s Honda Fit both inside and out, one may want to re-think the definition of a “Daily Driver” as Daniel pulls out all the right stops to making his Fit stand out from all other daily driven vehicles out there on the road today. No matter what mother nature throws in Daniel’s way: rain, shine, sleet, or snow, this Fit has been through it all; and at the end of it all that’s exactly what the true meaning of a daily driver is. In between the travel from point ‘A’ to point ‘B’, Daniel makes the possibilities seem endless, a look at his Honda Fit and you’ll see exactly why…

iM Highlight: Danio’s NSX

Since Dan’s last feature, a lot has changed. And by a lot, we mean Dan has made a switch up and is back so to speak with a completely new platform. The last car you may remember from Dan was his infamous S2000 (Featured HERE). Since then, Dan felt the need to move on from his S2000 and after a brief moment owning an E90 M3, Dan has found himself back to his Honda ways with undeniably every Honda Fan boy’s dream car, the NSX.

Although still a project in the making, Dan has quickly gotten to work on his NA1. Found on the exterior of his NSX are the NA2 Side Skirts and NA2 Rear Valence, fitted with the ’97 Front Lip. On the inside, Dan’s attention to detail is found with his Science of Speed center console, and an NSX-R horn button suited to match with his Momo Tuner steering wheel, Momo hub and titanium steering wheel bolts from Baller Bolts. An ARC Tear Drop Shift Knob and Recaro Pole Position seats can also be found in the interior of Dan’s NSX.

On the performance side of things, Dan’s NA1 sports a Taitec Header paired with a test pipe and Gruppe M Exhaust. A Prospeed Stage 3 Chip and RDX injectors are also implemented for a little more power gain.

The highlight of Dan’s NSX is found in the suspension, wheels and tires department. Dan definitely wasted no time getting his NSX lowered the “Level ONE way” (aka SLAMMED with no cares given, haha) on an 18″ set of Volk TE-37SLs wrapped in Yokohama S.Drive tires. All achieved by a set of BC Racing Coilovers and a custom spring rated set of Swift Springs.

Because this is still an on-going project for Dan, we definitely cannot wait to see more from this NA1 in the future. Looking at what he’s already got done, there’s no denying the endless possibilities that are in store for this project!

In the mean time, enjoy these photos taken by Alex Lu…

iM Random Snaps: Cruise to Banff

With the busy week that was ahead of us prior to Sunday School, a few of the homies decided that it would be a great idea to take a little break and enjoy our cars by taking them out for a little cruise to Banff. The best part of the cruise? Corey was able to get more practice with his camera and get a few rolling shots of our cars on route to Banff. Check it out!

JC and Gopesh sitting pretty at the meeting location

Errol, Brad and Jackie’s cars chillin’.

The rest of us obviously did not get the “Red Shirt, Grey Shorts” memo. TFTI guys.

Ready to roll out!

On the road, Steve was up first!

Brad rollin’ like a SiR. Haaaa get it?…moving on.

For some reason, Gopesh doesn’t look too happy. But his car looks so dope rolling!

Errol and his Amuse kitted S2000!

Took a break halfway, Adrian’s EG Coupe ahead of the pack. Super clean.

Everyone parked off to the side, enjoying the view.

Punit’s GS on his super wide AME wheels.

Back on the road, Ryan’s always clean EP3!

Adrian rollin’. We definitely gotta feature this car soon!

Zero Limit Bawse Jackie T. and his NSX before it’s transformation!

Alex’s super mint Integra GSR!

Steve’s RSX with a beautiful view of the mountains!

Aldo’s S2000. Surprised he’s not dancing here! LOL!

Those AMEs when they’re rolling though!

Ryan’s Genesis Coupe rollin’ on Vossens. Throwin’ up the deuces!

Ending it with a rolling shot of JC’s Prius. Errr I mean…CT200h rollin’ on Work VSXX wheels. He probably only used less than a quarter of a tank of gas to get to Banff and back. LOL!

With summer closing in it was definitely refreshing to get out and cruise! Hopefully before summer comes to an end we can get out one more time and do this again! Thanks for lookin’!

iM Event Coverage: Weekly 403 Honda/Beyond.ca Meet – July…

Welcome to another entry of pics from the July 17th edition of the weekly 403 Honda/Beyond.ca Meets at Chinook Centre. Last Wednesday was an interesting one. Around 5pm a big rain storm hit the city again, causing a few roads to flood once more and all but kill the hope of going to the Wednesday meet. But alas, as quickly as the storm came, it ended. Afterwards there was tons of sun, and the roads dried up fairly quickly, so I decided to make the trek down to Chinook to see how few people showed up. As you can see in these pictures, surprisingly it was an awesome turnout. Great to have people dedicated to their hobby as much as they are.

Here are a few snaps from the night, I tried my best to work with the bright sun and long shadows. These and more can be found here on our Flickr set: HERE

How romantic! =P

Before we end it here, even though I shouldn’t have to say it, there have been several incidents in the last few weeks to lead me to believe otherwise, so I’ll say it again. No speeding or BOVing up the ramp, no drifting, no revving engines, no super loud music, no burnouts. Basically, don’t do stuff that you wouldn’t do if a cop was hanging out there. We have a decent relationship with the staff and security at Chinook Centre because we are respectful to their lot and the residences across the street (who have on occasion called in to mall security and/or police because of these said hooligans). Don’t do stupid things to ruin it for the rest of the people who enjoy hanging out there.

Hope to see you guys all well behaved on Wednesday!

iM Feature: Jacky’s 2006 Honda S2000

Some would call this a true testament when it comes to living life: When you have a dream, you set goals for yourself to ensure that certain dream becomes a reality. Now, we can certainly all agree that this doesn’t happen overnight, in fact, it may happen over the course of a year or even 10 years, or it could even go on for a lifetime. Once that dream becomes a reality however, the outcome is most definitely satisfying. For Jacky, what started off as a dream becomes reality and it comes in the form of his Honda S2000.

null
null

Being a mechanic, Jacky definitely had the upper hand when it came to building his S2000 to the exact specifications that he wanted. As we begin in the suspension department, Jacky pulls out all the right moves with Tein RS dual adjustable coilovers. To keep his S2000 planted to the ground, Jacky implemented a JIC “X-Brace” and Eibach front and rear sway bars. For even more grip to the floor, a set of 17×9.5 Volk TE37SL’s wrapped in Advan AD08s fulfill the role.

null
null

With all the right suspension, Jacky continues his onslaught of performance as his S2000 sports an HKS Supercharger under the hood. A J’s Racing Header, T1R Test Pipe, and an Amuse R1 Titan Single Exhaust further enhance the engine’s breathability. With formidable power present under the hood, Jacky ensures his S2000 stops on a dime with Goodridge Stainless Steel Brake Lines, Spoon 4-Pot Monoblock Brake Calipers and Project Mu Brake Pads (B-Force for the street, and Club Racer for the track).

null
null

Undeniably built for the track, the interior and exterior of Jacky’s S2000 follow suit. With a Bride Vios III seat, a Mugen III steering wheel, ASM Floor Mats and Defi gauges immediately noticed in the cockpit, the interior definitely flows with the exterior of Jacky’s build. Moving on to the exterior of Jacky’s S2000, it’s pretty evident that Jacky looked to Voltex to make this S2000 look as good as it performs. Jacky’s S2000 is aesthetically furnished with a Voltex Race Version Bumper (with Carbon Canards), Side skirts, rear diffuser, and a Voltex Type 2 1600mm Wing (with 275mm stands and 30mm riser). To compliment the Voltex aero pieces, Jacky also sports a Mugen FRP Hardtop and an ASM FRP Hood.

null
null
null
null

Boasting an overall impressive build both inside and out of Jacky’s S2000, dreams definitely become a reality as Jacky’s S2000 looks and performs just the way he envisioned it. Being that the S2000 was one of the cars that Jacky dreamed of owning, you may begin to wonder what else Jacky “dreams” of owning. If you guessed an NA2 NSX, give yourself a pat on the back! But we can’t even begin to wonder what route Jacky will go should he get his hands on one. But before we even begin to dream about that, let’s have a look at the reality that is Jacky’s Honda S2K…

iM Event Coverage: Weekly 403 Honda/Beyond.ca Meet – June…

It was a nice sunny day on Wednesday June 15 to head up to the weekly 403 Honda/Beyond.ca meets. With the rain finally deciding to let up for a night, it was nice to get out there and check out some rides. Actually, it was a little too sunny out as you can tell by some of my pictures, and was getting hard to fight the sun and the shadows, so I gave up and went inside to eat, only to come back outside with it being cloudy again.

Here are a few shots that turned out, all the rest can be found on our Flickr set: HERE

iM Event Coverage: Driven 2013 Calgary (Part 1)

To “officially” kick start the 2013 season, Driven made it’s way to the Olympic Oval in Calgary. A little earlier than the previous year, this certainly did not stop everybody from getting their cars ready, some even just MINUTES before the end of roll-in and set up. With over 250 cars coming together under one roof, Driven continues to get better every year as owners/enthusiasts just know that it is the perfect opportunity to showcase what he/she has been hiding over the course of the winter. With that, the quality factor continues to improve as well as participants step it up and come correct every year.

Congratulations to all those who were awarded this year including Devon Mori (RHD EG6), Noel Eggers (S14), Randy Chau (Honda S600), Duncan Yu (Sleeper Civic), Philip Tan (AE86), Derrek Poyntz (Best Engine Dress Up – Integra) and Tommy Daraseng (E92 M3) who represented with illmotion.

We here at illmotion would also like to take this time to thank the beautiful Melyssa Grace for kicking it with us. It was definitely an honor to have you in our booth and we really hope you enjoyed the show as much we did!

Also a big shout out to our own Aldrich Evangelista for providing the beats and DJing for almost 8 hours straight! Amazing work Rich!

Finally, we would like to thank all of you because in all actuality, there would be no “Driven” without the support of you guys as we encourage each other, and practically push each other to get our cars ready to roll for shows like this. Thank you guys for making Driven 2013 a success yet again for our scene! It was definitely awesome seeing some familiar faces and meeting new ones, which is exactly what it’s all about; and what a perfect way to re-introduce the season we call Summer!

Moving on, we do have intense coverage of Driven which will be separated into parts over the next few days, so let’s kick things off with Part 1 of our iM Event Coverage: Driven 2013 Calgary…

Enjoy!

iM Event Coverage: Weekly 403 Honda/Beyond.ca Meet – April…

It was a gorgeous night out for the last 403 Honda/Beyond.ca at Chinook, and that meant a really awesome turnout, the best turnout we’ve seen all season. Hopefully the meets stay as busy as they have been, if not busier!
